Part two of the Pharaoh's Clan series. As Doctor Deidra Jones and her colleagues at the CDC begin to settle back into their routine they have all but put their adventurous encounter with the ancient werewolf god Anubis behind them. There has been no sign of the lycan-proteins remaining within their systems as if vaquishing the dark entity has absolved the group of their burden and returned them to normal humans. But the "spirit whispers" return to haunt Deidra carrying a warning that all is not as well as it may seem. Doctor Choe Lee Chang is discovered to be pregnant and as she and Deidra make plans to run off for the protection of the unborn children Choe Lee is kidnapped. Alone and without the support of her team of U.S. Army Rangers to back her Deidra must form new alliances in her quest to find and rescue Choe Lee. But who can she trust? The two FBI agents assigned to assist in her search? The mysterious Chloe Brannagan? And now the blond werewolf Han's, Anubis's chief minion, is discovered to be alive, a female assassin Raven Raines--herself a werewolf is hunting for her, and if that's not enough trouble Chloe manages to piss-off a group of "rocker" vampires led by Pike Lorde hell bent on revenge for a beat-down Chloe gave them with her new found powers. And has the Anubis really been vanquished or is it lurking in the shadows waiting for it's chance to strike as well? Mankind needs a hero--even if it's a girl--is Deidra the "One"?
