A fun read that isn’t afraid to discuss the idea of sexual oppression, Dual Harvest sweeps you up in a collision between opposing forces. Of course, this at the heart of most fiction, and the confrontation is inevitable; the method by which Lori Michelle brings us to the conclusion is what makes or breaks the story. Sexual repression and sexual deviance are the Yin/Yang in this tale; Michelle’s ability to write about the two women in this novel kept me turning the pages. The plot is rather insig...
The Harvest Killer is murdering men and taking their organs. Detective Balducci, though officially removed from the case, decides to continue investigating and becomes very closely involved. A word of warning: Dual Harvest contains very graphic scenes of violence and plenty of sex m/f as well as f/f. It is a bit of a mash-up between a psychological thriller and a horror story.I really enjoyed the plot, and although it was pretty predictable, I wanted to keep reading to see if it all played out a...
I'll not divulge specific details of the story or its characters, as unraveling the book's mystery is one aspect which adds much to its reading experience, but this is a story that should suit many readers interested in a thriller OR a darker horror tale. It happens to be an accessible mixture of both. It's a nicely-done debut from author Lori Michelle, and I'll be looking forward to seeing more of her work in the future.
I thought I'd thrown in something for Women in Horror month, so here it is! I have a soft spot for throwbacks to VHS days and Lori Michelle's DUAL HARVEST definitely had a Single White Female vibe (which the author shrewdly references in the book) that won me over. It's a very feminine thriller which is something I appreciated because it used a lot of feminine language and idioms, which threw me out of my comfort zone. I would've loved more of Amber and Lila and less of the cops maybe and the bo...
I won this book on Goodreads giveaways. I really enjoyed this book because the author kept me guessing. I'm that person who has the plot figured out in the first couple of chapters so this book was an excellent surprise. Its very raw and mentally visual so count it as one of your serious reads.
http://noemptyshelveshere.blogspot.co...This book makes me cross a little. For me this was a great concept for a chilling thriller, but it just didn't have the right delivery.I have received an ARC of this book through NetGalley for this honest review.
