I'd had this series on my radar for a bit ... I'd seen the covers and knew it had pretty good reviews. That's really ALL I knew. I hadn't even read the blurb. So starting up, it wasn't what I expected (because I had judged the book by it's cover ... which is not to say these covers aren't representative of the story). Setting is modern day. England ... other than a few words here and there (loo, posh, mobile instead of cell, plaster ... is that a bandage?), it was quite Americanized (none of the...
The Ruby Red trilogy has been the most fascinating and utterly complex series I have ever read. I couldn't put the books down! The author must have taken forever when planning ahead all those details we spot in the books. (Foreshadowing is everywhere throughout the series!)"Show what you can really do." ;)
I reread the all three books but because they were such fast reads I didn´t want to add them individually to my reading challenge. The story is very fun and light, everything happens in the span of just over a week and therefore the love story might seem super fast and some things don´t get explained in detail but I didn´t really mind. And of course, there is a huge nostalgia factor whenever I reread this series. I'm happy to have them all on my shelves!
I love how each book immediately starts where the last book left off. I love the plot and idea of how the time travel works with genes, etc. Gwen is very memorable and unique in my opinion, especially her name. I got a bit annoyed with her at times, but still very much liked her character. Gideon on the other hand, made me so mad throughout the books with his mixed signals and frustrating misleads. The way Kerstin Gier formed the idea of time travel in these books was beyond amazing, definitely
Fascinating and wonderfully writtenOnce you start you can't stop. It grips you and it is a roller coaster, exciting and with mysterious cliffhangers . Plus a romance all tied in .
I enjoyed these books.I read and then watched the films with my daughter. Read the first two books and then watched. We couldnt wait for me to finished the third book (I was half way through) before watching it....and in all seriousness I prefer the film ending over the book which really surprised me. It's rare. It reminds me of school course work that you're really excited about in the beginning, but time passes and you have to get it finished so you can hand it in...it feels like the author lo...
In the beginning I was not so sure whether I would like it or not and I was like 'not another standard young-adult novel with a slightly annoying female main character'. However, I liked the books very much - Kerstin Gier's writing style is great! Also - 5 stars because I finished to read all 3 books in less than 48 hours.
This series is not the greatest series out there but it was rather good. Ive read it three times mostly because it's always at the library when I have nothing to read. I will say that it gets very cheesy, but sometimes I think you have to look past judgment to really enjoy a book. This book was not as original as I would have liked it to be, but not the worst I've seen. This books really pulls you in when your at an exiting part, and after even the third time of reading it, I still stay awake t
How I loved this series! It hooked me early but kept on growing (third book amazing) as did the characters. Even the non main characters were described richly, and I loved some of them (such as Madame Roussini).I generslly do love time-travel books but this one was unique since it in a natural way found a way to combine action, adventure, clues, romance (Gideon is kind of dreamy..) and a lot of comedy. Impressed by the authenticity of the eras they traveled to, must have been some serious resear...
#1:I found it a bit painstaking that all details of London streets are given brick-by-brick. The story so far doesn't need to be set in London, it could be anywhere in Europe, even in an imaginary town. And anyway, I didn't understand the details so much that I could follow Gwen on her way, considering I do not live on these exact streets day-by day.It also bothered me that the book is scattered with names of people I don't know. And I am a widely read, quite intelligent adult. I asked my daught...
Quick fun read and I want more. It’s not sophisticated or destined to be a classic, but it was fun.—Oops I thought I was reviewing Ruby Red, the first book, not the entire trilogy. I guess it’s fine because I read the next two without stopping so I can’t review Sapphire Blue on its own merits. The time travel bit for the most part was consistent with my ideas except at the end she changed something in the past which would cause a paradox. My time travel idea is that you can’t do that. She went b...
Ruby Red. Sapphire Blue. Emerald Green. I absolutely tore through this trilogy in the last two weeks. It's a fun, light read about an average girl who gets thrown into extraordinary circumstances- like time travel. The kicker? She's actually ordinary. Gwen is annoying, delightful, hormonal, selfish and fun. She relatable and someone who actually grows throughout the books rather than being stagnate and perfect. Fun reads for a Saturday afternoon. #onebookaweek #yalit #amreading
Don't read them they suck
I really thought this was a fun ride through time. The characters were great.
Great series. Full of magic and mystery. Ending was a great surprise. Defiantly worth reading. Would recommend.
I will start off by saying that these are YA books meant for the ages 13-15, and that I am nowhere near that age. I had difficulty choosing what stars to give, because I did read all of them and as you will see, there are parts I was impressed with as much as there were parts I certainly was not. I also kept in mind I am not within the age group it was written for. But I ultimately decided on 2,5 stars instead of 3 because I read Kerstin Gier’s other series as well. The Silver Trilogy is for the...
Read this series when I was a freshman in high school. At the time I knew it wasn’t very good, but considered it harmless fun.As many have already pointed out, the protagonist behaves like a much younger child and is frequently annoying. The romance is kind of lame. The reveal of the protagonist’s parents wound up being too little, too late, as it was only revealed in the final book. In all, I don’t remember much about this series except that it was originally written in German and I watched the...
I absolutely adored this series. sometimes I wanted to scream because I wanted gwenith to snap back at people and tell them to lay off of her. I couldn’t put down these books. The ending nearly killed me,though I was happy it was a good ending, I felt like it was too vague almost l was left with questions. and the movies!! I found a copy of ruby red on YouTube in English but I can’t see the other movies!! I wish I could speak German!!!
This was an amazing series I usually read books with a bit more blood and gore though there is some in this series I enjoyed it very much The romance, the manipulation, the mind games, the fighting, the traveling back in time, the everseaking dangers behind every corner, the constant answering of questions and gaining twice as many. This book will keep you wondering till the very last page and is a sit down for hours and not stop time of read. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I loved, loved, loved this series! The first book was magic and I couldn’t wait to get to the second which I enjoyed. The third one filled in the blanks but it was becoming more difficult to read rather than skip to find out what happened and why. The audience is younger readers but I could still enjoy it. If you liked Harry Potter I think you will love the first book which will lead to the second book for sure and you will need the answers in the third book although you might not enjoy it as much...
