All the good stuffWorld War 2, super soldiers, ninja and a tough Irish guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. Add a dah of dinosaurs, shake well and an island and sea water for a terrific time! A great outing.
Dames, dinosaurs, dangerExcellent example of what happens when a creator applies his passion to a creator owned project. Fantastic storytelling and artwork.
Full on fun from the first page to the last, and beautiful to look at with some truly gorgeous pulp style artwork
Like Indiana Jones... On crack! This is one helluva fun comic. Nazis! Dinosaurs! Femme Fatales! Secret island! This is a really fun comic. It's like stuff people dreamed of when they were kids, and finally decided to make it a reality. So, where's the movie? ;)
Loved this comic, especially the hardback version I purchased. It's got a beautifully realised pulp, B-movie feel to it! I just loved the artwork and the story moves along nicely. I'm looking forward to picking up number 2 soon!
Dames, danger, dinosaurs. Yep, that kinda sums it up. Let's be honest, this is not the best comic book I've read this year but I would lie if I were to say it wasn't fun. Of course this kind of "Raiders of the lost ark" story is as cliché as they come but honestly I'm not holding my breath till I find one that does surprise me. And that's not the point actually. There's action, nazis, dinosaurs, nazis eaten by dinosaurs and a spy fatale. If you're into this kind of stuff, you know what to expect...
Pulp adventure with dinosaurs & Nazis so what's not to love/hate?
A great, fun, entertaining read. Written and illustrated by Ireland's Stephen Mooney with great affection for his protagonists and setting. Imagine dinosaurs, nazis, femme fatales, and a healthy dose of Indiana Jones and Doc Savage/Superman inspired leading characters. What's not to like?
Good, but not great I liked the story, who doesn’t like Nazis and dinosaurs? Both make great antagonists. It could have done with more character development all around.
AKA Raiders of the Lost World...An Irishman, a Ninja, and Captain America walk into a bar and say 'let's prevent Nazi Dinosaurs.'If that sounds appealing to you, then you're in for quite a ride. Stephen Mooney happily appropriates Indiana Jones' styles (and some full scenes) in this story of an International squad on a remote island trying to prevent Nazis from capturing dinosaurs. But he does justice to the homages, using the style to tell a fast-paced story full of action, adventure, ethically...
Really fun, mildly problematic in many ways
I've really struggled to find comics/graphic-novels that I like, so far only finding one prior to this one (Django/Zorro: The Official Sequel to Django Unchained by Quentin Tarantino). I have a few weeks left of Kindle Unlimited and came across Half Past Danger by Stephen Mooney recommended in an article of "Comics to recommend for people who don't like comics." And, it happens to currently be in KU, so I figured, why not. Wow. Just wow.I loved the story, the amount of dialogue (I often think co...
Even 4.5A fun surprise - the book was extremely fun and entertaining. In the footsteps of classic wwii action movies (comparing to Last Crusade is inevitable) - with some captain america elements and clearly lots of love and passion for the project - I realy enjoyed it. Recoomended for the old-adventure-movie-feel if you're into it.
Messy plot, messy panels, vaguely racist, nah.
A fun pulpy WWII story staring a Irishman working for the Americans, a Japanese guys who chose to work for the Americans, a giant blonde American with potential super abilities, and a femme fatale. The art is well done and as long as you don't take the book seriously (there are dinosaurs) it is a fun read.
Fun from start to finish
More reviews (and no fluff) on the blog http://surrealtalvi.wordpress.com/ Halt Past Danger is an enjoyable throwback to 1950s pulp fiction graphic novel, featuring evil nazis, dinosaurs, double crosses, and femme fatales. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which helps create a very friendly wink at obvious influences such as Indiana Jones.Irishman Tommy Flynn, a Sergeant in the army, is investigating a remote South Pacific island in the Summer of 1943. He finds an odd Nazi base - just as
Raiders of the Lost Ark + Jurassic Park = Half Past Danger. That being said, it is definitely worth a read! It is so much fun! my only regret is that I didn't pick up this series when it first came out.
I'm not usually a fan of the military graphic novels, as I sometimes feel that the violence it a little too real for me. But then I saw that there were Nazis and dinosaurs in the same book. Hmmm, I thought, why not. This could be a lot of fun. As I started reading Half Past Danger, I was thrilled to see that the artwork was quite good and there was also an entertaining storyline. After all, who doesn't love seeing two different times in our planet's history thrown together. That is why the Juras...
This was a fun, quick read.It features a loveable, whiskey drinking Irishman, a whole heap of dinosaurs (yes, really), a bunch of Nazi baddies, an American super soldier, a Japanese whirlwind of a fighter, and a British spy.I enjoyed the humour, which was laugh out loud and caught me by surprise. Picture me yelping with surprised amusement at random intervals throughout the comic, and that's an accurate description of my evening. The action was well written and well drawn, and the dialogue was s...
