Loved this book. Great pace, interesting characters, and gives a cool behind-the scenes sense of what it's like to work at Google. Couple great management tips in the mix too
A compelling and incisive view of life in the world of Silicon Valley and beyond.
Felt pretty authentic as far as the Google work environment. The romantic environment, not so much. Why is the whole book double-spaced on the Kindle?
Couldn't put this book down once I started. There's something about the characters that makes you keep turning the pages because you just have to get to know them better. The main character, Virginia, is so relatable -- in her twenties, fresh from ending an on-and-off roller coaster relationship that isn't right for her yet keeps pulling her back in, making a fresh start across the country in a new job, and trying to find happiness through it all. A great bildungsroman story that anyone in the p...
Good love story of a Googler. Don't like the ending though.
A rare and authentic look inside Silicon Valley!
Well, the "Google as a workplace" backdrop was the most interesting thing about this book. The protagonist, though clearly an awesome manager and intelligent woman, was a tremendous dope when it came to romantic relationships (the story in a nutshell) . It was painful to read her making the same mistakes over and over again. That sort of flawed character is usually relatable...but only to a point. Her neurosis went on a bit too long to make this an enjoyable read (for me), even though the end wa...
Super fun read , especially for a Googler. a little 'sex and the city' but with a smart female lead working in tech rather than fashion. also a nice revealing of the wizard behind the curtain so to speak, a reminder that even our execs and role models are people too, humble and quirky and flawed.
I was torn on how to rate this book. I liked the concept, and I liked the characters. I liked the story built inside a look at Google. I liked the writing style, almost diary like.(view spoiler)[ I hated the ending. I mean, I got irrationally angry at the end. Sure, Max was an asshole - but even in his email he said he was trying to reform himself. NoName was supposed to reform!! Not end with a "I'd rather have a wife that knows I'm cheating on her..."I mean come on! She ends up with George? Sur...
