This wryly-humorous addition to the Musk Ox series finds Zebra and Musk Ox providing a geography lesson of sorts to readers. The two travel the globe, beginning with Africa and ending with South America and a detour to Iceland. Instead of Historical Markers for each continent, there are Hysterical Markers with bits of information provided. Although readers may not learn a great deal about each spot, they'll have fun flying through the book and laughing at Musk Ox's droll observations and the lon...
Come along for an exciting adventure with Musk Ox and Zebra as they travel all seven continents in search of interesting animals, landmarks and culture! This is an absolutely perfect addition to any elementary school classroom or library, there is no funnier way to teach students a little bit about our world.
Oh, my. I did not think it was possible, but I have found the funniest travel book on the planet, and I have just read it from cover to cover and wish I could unread it so I could read it for the first time again. Musk Ox has had previous picture book adventures, but this, by far, is his best. From the dedications to the author info and on every page in between, this book made me laugh out loud and say, "hmmm, who knew!" over and over again. It's a keeper!
Musk Ox and Zebra continue their zany conversation as they take the reader on a trip to the seven continents.Besides the "Hysterical Markers", hidden humor can be found in the illustrations. Why is the penguin reading "Lawrence of Antarctica"? I never get tired of this pair, and I think the kiddos will agree!
Musk Ox and Zebra explore the 7 continents with humor and fun facts woven together seamlessly.PreK-2; great for classroom use.
This is a humorous trip to all of the continents that sneaks in a few facts at the same time.
The dynamic duo of zebra and musk ox from "A is for Musk Ox" and "Musk Ox Counts" are back for their third installment. This time their hilarious, pun-tastic adventures take them globe-trotting to all seven continents. The painterly illustrations match the humor of the back-and-forth banter between the two friends. Facts about each continents climate, landmarks, animals, and geography are woven into the story. Fun for independent or group reading, especially for elementary aged kids who are lear...
Musk Ox and Zebra are hilarious as always. We have traveled the alphabet with them and worked our way through a counting book too. Now they take us around the globe visiting each continent. These books are such a fun way to learn a variety of concepts that they are a must have for any library.
Disappointing in comparison to the previous two books. Part of what made those two so much fun is that the musk ox subverts the usual pattern of a counting book or alphabet book. But here the subject matter is played fairly straight and it lacks the enjoyable absurdity of its predecessors.
Not my favorite Musk Ox adventure and not one that would go over well in a storytime crowd, but still fun and a clever way to look at the world.
Definitely more of a farce than an educational tool, but still valuable. After all, it may inspire kids to find out more about different things & places mentioned. At least it will inspire them to realize there's a lot of stuff all around the world.Best of all, it's funny. And cute. And clever.
The duo who introduced readers to the alphabet in A Is For Musk Ox and numbers and counting in Musk Ox Counts are back in all their guffaw-inducing glory. The World According To Musk Ox (A Neal Porter Book, Roaring Brook Press) written by Erin Cabatingan with illustrations by Matthew Myers follows the team on a trip to the seven continents. Get ready for a little learning and loads of laughter. My full recommendation: http://bit.ly/1piiwxA
The World According to Musk Ox presents an interesting way to introduce continents with humor. I can see some fun classroom research projects spinning off from this book...the kids create their own book with a main animal character to lead a tour around the continents. Review copy provided by Roaring Brook for CYBILS.
Zebra and Musk Ox are such fun in this story. Musk ox is quite full of himself, which is fun to read. They travel and explore all the continents which would be a great introduction to younger grades.
Age: Kindergarten-2nd gradeAnimals: Zebra, musk oxTravel: All 7 continentsAfter Musk Ox claims he has never been to Africa, Zebra decides to travel around the world with Musk Ox. A silly, goofy travel story with a smattering of factual information.
This was not what I expected, but quite funny.
Another musk ox winner; not as wonderful for me as the other 2 but still a hit. Madam loved it, too.
Explore the continents with a funny musk ox and a clever zebra, learn a few world facts along the way! Great artwork too!
Don't you just love it when a book makes you giggle? Need a tour of the continents, with very little, useless information about each continent? This is the book for you! Musk Ox and Z. Bra travel the world, with Ox telling most of the jokes. Not a bit of wasted space thanks to Matthew Myers. Erin does a great job as well with her wit! There are more books about the world according to Musk Ox! Check them out at your library!
