The Pimlico Landlady

The Pimlico Landlady

Andy Wilson
0/5 ( ratings)
Briefly covering the early life of Mrs Thomas in Sweden, before focusing on her life as a landlady in Pimlico, London, the stories held within provide an amazing insight into life in London after the war. Combined with heart-warming stories from during the war, Mrs Thomas provides a rare, and very unique, perspective of life in this important era of human history.

Mrs Thomas has had a life that, has been at times fantastic and beautiful and, at times challenging and dark, but she proves time and time again how she endures through her faith and commitment to her heart and understanding, even if she struggles to understand the people around her!

With stories including Assassins, Possible Murder, and Police Corruption, you might be forgiven for thinking this is a story of struggle, and it is to a degree, but that would be missing the point, as there are so many heart warming stories that really capture your imagination too, including saving lives and helping people in a variety of charitable ways. Mrs Thomas is a hero, and an example, she has her flaws, as we all do, but her life is an example in how to learn to cope with our own weaknesses, and enhance our own strengths. I do wonder how her life would have turned out if she had gone to work for Greta Garbo. Despite the beautiful stories in this book, I'm sure some of the seedier stories will get the most attention and will be much of the focus when the book is discussed among friends.

This is an amazing book and includes a rare glimpse into living life during the second world war in London, and the decades that followed.
