“Kincade coiled like a rattler…”

Lacho’s eyes darted to a pistol not six feet from Kincade’s boots. It might be the bandit’s only chance. He lunged.
Kincade jerked his Colt. Holding the trigger fast, he fanned six bullets into Lacho’s legs, tearing both into bloody shreds of skin and bone.
A rage boiled within Kincade’s stomach. This Mexican garbage wasn’t just a kidnapper. He destroyed people’s lives. Teeth grinding in anger, Kincade slowly turned back to where he’d seen a pile of rusty lanterns and an oily jug. He lifted it, pulled and plug and smelled the contents. Kerosene – just as he suspected.
In a voice as menacing as Lacho could ever remember hearing, Kincade said, “You and your bunch have spent your days bringing hellfire into the lives of countless good people. The time has come to bring hellfire into yours.”
With a blurring motion, Kincade flung the jug at Lacho. It shattered, spilling its contents over the Mexican. Picking up his Winchester, Kincade fired the entire magazine of remaining cartridges into the pooled explosive.
Lacho shouted at the top of his lungs, hoping that she would hear him. “Vengeme, Brujita, venge mi muerte!” Avenge me, little Bruja, avenge my death!
The last rounds left Kincade’s Winchester hotter than a branding iron. The kerosene ignited. Fingers of fire and clouds of smoke engulfed the Mexican...
