This newsletter reports on Ancient Egypt Research Associates excavations at two 4th Dynasty settlements at Giza and accounts one of our most challenging field seasons to date, carried out in the immediate aftermath of the January 2011 Egyptian revolution. In this newsletter, our team explores the mystery of the "Standing Wall Island", first excavated at the south end of our site in 2004, and the newly discovered abutting cattle corral.
Also, a summary of our eighth archaeological field school session since 2005, and our third session held in Luxor. These field schools for archaeologists of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities train young Egyptians in best practice archaeological methods and empower them to explore and conserve their own heritage.
We also describe how our team reconstructed a priests’ house in Khentkawes Town, beginning with the process of manufacturing the mud bricks used to bring this ancient house back to life.
