An excellent story filled with inside and not-so-inside jokes about Black Metal and Extreme Metal in general. A real page turner and easy read if you're into a fun read.Recommendation: read it while listening to Beherit or any other old school noisy Black Metal, it's quite an experience.

This book is extremely metal. The twin tween protagonists start off as black metal versions of Wednesday Addams but the book gets more serious in tone as it goes along. A lot of the core of the book is lampooning how black metal takes itself far too seriously, kind of like Metalocalypse. It eventually falls prey to that same seriousness itself. Still thoroughly enjoyable and I'm glad that I have a signed copy.
Interesting read that seems to avoid taking itself too seriously for the first half. Unfortunately, mid-way through the tone shifts - as if Spears became so involved in the telling of the story that he forgot to maintain the tongue-and-cheekiness that made it a far more endearing read.

This was tons of fun - two teenage twin brother metal heads discover they are the reincarnation of a powerful demon and must go on a quest to conquer Hell. Tongue-firmly planed in cheek for the entire series and it works so well.

A fun tongue in cheek love letter to Metal. Twin teenagers discover they are the reincarnation of a demon lord. The two then go on an adventure (dragging along some school friends and their little brother) to claim their legendary sword and then hell itself.
