This is the start to McDuffie’s run on the JLA! Includes issues 13-16 and a Wedding Special. The Legion of Doom/The Injustice League are always a fun time whenever they appear in a comic arc. Watching the Justice League go toe to toe with their greatest villains teaming up is never a dull moment. We have Joker, Lex and Cheetah assembling their team in a manor similar to how the JLA did in their first issue post Infinite Crisis. The Injustice League manages to severely injure Firestorm, and then
This hit the spot like a bottle of Coke on a humid summer afternoon. Didn't read the previous volumes? No problem. A reader with a casual knowledge of the JLA can jump right into the action. It had snappy dialogue, attractive artwork, and a straight-forward lean and mean story. Even the two short stories that round out the edition were pretty good. Recommended for those who don't require a deep, life-changing experience but just want an entertaining heroes vs. villains book.
THE PARTY’S OVER! That’s what the villains think after Joker gasses Firestorm. Meanwhile Green Arrow is engaged to Black Canary. •Great artwork! Even though the cover has all the villains looking at the reader, most of them remain in the background throughout story.•I was surprised by the humor in fight between Black Canary & Giganta. Who knew comics can also be funny?!
A good read, just a little short.
A very straight forward let's have all the bad guys team up to take out the JLA just because they are evil. Green Arrow and Black Canary are finally tying the knot and tonight's their bachelor / bachelorette parties. Seems like a good time for the Injustice League to attack. The book is very straight-forward and basic, but isn't that what we seek out in comics, a big slugfest between all the good guys and bad guys?
A really fun and short story team-up of super villains against some fan fav heros: Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern(s), etc.As a huge Batman fan, there were a few amazing panels and quips (about him being the best, of course) that made the book. The action was great, the baddies were great (Joker & Lex Luthor), and having Amanda Waller come and "clean up" the mess at the end was all kinds of awesome (--I love to hate her!) ... I just wish this arc was longer!(The follow up two stori...
I guess this is what was happening behind the scenes before Green Arrow/Black Canary: The Wedding. It's not a bad way to pass the time, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it, either. Hardcore DC fans will probably really like it.
Dwayne McDuffie throws a ton of villains against the Justice League and sadly underwhelms. For the big ideas to work here, the story needed more time. It felt very rushed. Dozens of villains are shown and then a handful are impactful. The resolution was way too easy to come to. Add to that the very ridiculous bachelor/ette parties and the book suffered more than it should. The art was good and there are some great moments but it never had a chance to develop. Overall, a good read that could have...
I like the Justice League. With its frequent roster rotation, who's exactly in the league changes from year to year, but I like it best when the "big guns" are there. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, some kind of Green Lantern, Flash, etc.. As of spring 2011, the roster's quite a bit weaker than that, so I've been going back and reading some of the stories that have been collected in Trade Paperbacks. A recent favorite is a four-issue story from Dwayne McDuffie and Ed Benes: Justice League of Ame...
Now this is what I expected out of a good Justice League book. The book had lots of action and fun scenes with all my favorite heroes and villains duking it out. I love how the villains are starting to get more and more organized (by putting off their petty differences to work together and beat the JLA). The Green Arrow and Black Canary storyline is also a nice addition to all the action. I have to say that my favorite thing about the JLA volumes so far (particularly this one) is the great use o...
This was like watching the Justice League cartoon. Fun and easy but nothing that'll stick. So I guess after the backlash of identity crisis/tornado's path (I love both) they decided we needed to make this one more cheerful. Black Canary and Green arrow about to get married. Their friends gather around to see this and BAM the Injustice League begins to attack. First going after Firestorm and nearly killing him and then attacking everyone one by one. In a chase to see who will get the upper-hand o...
A disappointing shift in tone from Meltzer's run. The serious and realistic feel of the characters is sadly missing from McDuffie's JLA. The plot felt very odd and scatteted, and by the time it was over I didn't see the purpose of it all. It holds no wait like the previous two volumes and McDuffie does little to expand on the plot points Meltzer left in his final issue.
The Injustice League story is written by Dwayne McDuffie, who wrote alot of the best episodes of the Justice League and Justice League animated series, and it reads alot like an one of its instalments. It's fun, has some nice character interactions, and funny banter. But the stakes never feel too high, probably due to its fast pace, short length and simplistic approach to storytelling. Its odd to read such a no-nonsense, bare-bones Justice League of America story, especially considering that thi...
Another fun addition to this book series, culminating in the wedding we've been waiting for, for years.
There’s a lineup of heroes and villains that’s a ball. Unfortunately we don’t get to see as much action and 1 v 1’s as I hoped for. It’s very weird to see that Identity Crisis was canon and everyone (rightfully so) hates Dr. Light. It also betrays it when Superman states, “Start by being honest with your teammates.” I actually enjoyed this quick as it was. I skimmed the extra stories after Injustice League wrapped up. The art for the first chapter wasn’t too much to my liking; however it kicked
"There's some nice characterization in the first issue, featuring Ollie's bachelor party, but that quickly fades away to three issues of stupid super-villain plot. Sadly, the bonus features, on Tangent and Red Arrow, are considerably more interesting than the main feature."
This one does exactly what it says on the tin, and it does so quite competently. The Injustice League crashes the engagement parties for Green Arrow and Black Canary, summoning the Justice League into action. Dwayne McDuffie writes a very accessible story with a lot of characters, recalling his great work on /Justice League Unlimited/. For some reason, this book also collects the first issue of the JLA crossover with Tangent Comics, which feels out of place.
Well this was my first read of 2015, and although it was a third volume, I don’t think I missed a lot by reading this first. Maybe I did, but I felt like THE INJUSTICE LEAGUE was fine on its own.So we have Lex being Lex Luthor in all his evil-y goodness, and because I watched the TV show, I felt like I knew where this was going...but this comic was so much more darker than the TV show ever could be, and I was very happy about that. He’s bringing all the bad guys back together to take over the [po...
Reprints Justice League of America (2) #13-16 and Justice League of America Wedding Special #1 (November 2007-January 2008). Lex Luthor, Cheetah, and the Joker have a plan for the Justice League. This was really good!A new LOD is here formed by Lex and Joker and Cheetah and they are targeting members of the league, taking them down and well its all to see how far Superman can be pushed but with Black Lightning, Superman fights back and rescues his teammate or will he but what's the twist and how far has Lex has it all planned? Also something with the new Firestorm! Its an epic volume with such great stories and predictable twists for sure but I love the way mcDuffie writes this villains a...
