This is the transcription of two diaries belonging to Albert D. Baker of Westfield Pennsylvania. He enlisted in company A of the 42nd Pennsylvania volunteers in April 1861. The diaries trace the story of his camp life at Camp Curtin and extending throughout the campaigns of 1861 and terminating in 1862. He sustained a warm at the battle of South Mountain and lost an arm causing his discharge from the Army. Many interesting entries of camp life troop movements battles and more.
