Panther Rock: Predator One (Predator Trilogy Book 1)

Panther Rock: Predator One (Predator Trilogy Book 1)

W.J. Facey
0/5 ( ratings)
Panther Rock is the first book in the Predator Series, featuring panther kits captured in E Africa and shipped abroad. It is often written in retrospect, with Mala dreaming or remembering events in Africa where the kits are living in the Kilimanjaro area with their Ma, who is killed in the attempt to poach her kits.
She urges them to run and run and run but after running on and on to escape they are separated - Mala running to the East and Mazo and Mizi to the West. They have many adventures before they are captured.
The story begins in the Westcountry and features The Plantation - a block of trees and scrub in the corner of a field, which is home to the usual motley collection of animals, mainly badgers and foxes.
Mala escapes from his new home on the moor and he becomes the legendary Beast of Bodmin Moor and is summoned to The Plantation to stop rebellion, led by rebel Hardy Badger, when the owner of the land begins to build a shed on his land where he can compose a concerto. Mala is badly injured and taken to an animal hospital.
Later he inherits his owner's moorland farm, The Tor. Dr Mahila of the hospital is head of a trust set up to administer the estate.
But Mala has disappeared - captured again - this time by youngsters who aim to sell him.
It is also a story of chances we have, opportunities to begin again. Meeting genuinely friendly people who are prepared to trust and give second chances.
Sebastian Kurtis is interviewed for the new position of Tor Animal Park Director but he soon admits that he has been imprisoned, wrongfully, for killing elephants. Even so Dr Mahila appoints him and he proves his worth. Dr Mahila asks DI Harry Bailey to look into the matter of false imprisonment and he goes out to Africa to liaise with DI Joe Richey. Harry does not realise that he has put his own life at risk as powerful, influential people were involved in the trial of Sebastian.
Despite having a lucky break, there is always the other side of the coin and Sebastian is targeted, even in a new country - an unscrupulous person in Africa will do anything to protect his own family name and keep his own son out of prison. Sebastian is desperate to clear his own name, especially as he has against all odds been appointed as the Tor Director, but an assassin is under contract to kill him.
There are three books in the series, each telling different stories in the Westcountry and across the world but which link in with the panther stories.
There is also a touch of romance, building in each book.
A story about wild animals, including the killing of elephants for their ivory and their young, of people fighting against injustice with the threat of an assassin lurking in the background, awaiting his chance to kill an innocent man.
