I read this for [Italian] Black History Month and it made me want to learn more about Italy's shameful colonial past, especially Ruth Ben-Ghiat's work. The prose is average, often redundant, and a tad slow, and the pretentious literary critic in me suffered at the too many typos I encountered. However, the book provides a crucial look at a virtually unknown, or often forgotten, chapter of Italian history that must be acknowledged and taught (since it is still not part of any curricula).
Un libro necessario e scritto magistralmente. Lo consiglio a tutt*.
