Lovely letters of unfathomable longing and passion permeate this short story:
“Imperfectly, perhaps, we dream the truth behind our separate being and penetrate to this communion, this summons of love, our hearts’ testament. This is the magic. And though not with you in the body, I’m in you, as you are in me, even in the flesh. Let it be known that our f . . .ing is fusion. Two writers, introduced to one another by their mutual editor, fall in love long distance. Fueled by exquisitely elegant missives, simmering, sensual declarations of impassioned intent, Jen in Florida and Tim in Alaska, can stand it no longer. Their first meeting was almost hijacked by an earthquake, but finally, undaunted by volcanic interruptions that grounded planes, they meet for the first time in Seattle, then fly home together to Norfolk, filled with hopes and dreams of living and writing happily ever after. By leaving Alaska and immersing himself in Jen, Tim thought he could escape his unresolved family of origin issues. Jen thought she had learned how to embrace the moment and commit to love. But soon after they arrived home Tim's mask came off, and Jen didn't like what she saw.
