Who was that Masked Man? (Lin on Life Short Stories Book 1)

Who was that Masked Man? (Lin on Life Short Stories Book 1)

3/5 ( ratings)
Lovely letters of unfathomable longing and passion permeate this short story:
“Imperfectly, perhaps, we dream the truth behind our separate being and penetrate to this communion, this summons of love, our hearts’ testament. Through letters and words, passion and vows, we answer to us. We are that which we consume and think. Each devours the other and thinks of the one that is whole in us. You are me and I am you. This is the magic. Upon the pillows of passion, we express the secret of us in the flesh, come again to renew our devotion, surrendering to the Yes that I am in you and you in me, and our longing is inseparable...Our passion holds me. And though not with you in the body, I’m in you, as you are in me, even in the flesh. Let it be known that our f . . .ing is fusion. As we already know in our hearts, the ecstasy of the Life Force seeking its own and given to our keeping, to be honored by us, nurtured naturally and divinely in the love that joins these temples, each allowing only one worshipper who forsakes all others. Our desire is one, untouchable by all but the Force that sanctions it. I the male and you the female surrender to the genderless fruits of the love we create in and with body, mind, spirit. Our love is hallowed among the saints. I kneel at your feet in honor of the love you give to my keeping, and wonder at its preciousness."

Two writers, introduced to one another by their mutual editor, fall in love long distance. Fueled by exquisitely elegant missives, simmering, sensual declarations of impassioned intent, Jen in Florida and Tim in Alaska, can stand it no longer. Their first meeting was almost hijacked by an earthquake, but finally, undaunted by volcanic interruptions that grounded planes, they meet for the first time in Seattle, then fly home together to Norfolk, filled with hopes and dreams of living and writing happily ever after. By leaving Alaska and immersing himself in Jen, Tim thought he could escape his unresolved family of origin issues. Jen thought she had learned how to embrace the moment and commit to love. But soon after they arrived home Tim's mask came off, and Jen didn't like what she saw.
