If you are looking for a good paranormal book to read with some romance thrown in then this one is for you. Note: don't forget the world you are going to step into is one filled with immortals, witches, warlocks, and plenty of suspense and action. This book kept me wondering what might happen next with every turn of the page, and provided a much needed escape to a new world. Callie the main character had such a good heart, which lead me to really connect with her. I loved being able to connect wi...
Great Read.I found this book to be lighter and fresh. Different. There was some angst. There was some mystery. There was some romance. But not the heavy kind. I'm addicted to PNR. This book has witches and Immortals. The love story kept me turning the pages. I totally enjoyed this book. I have to get the next one... Pam James.
This was a nice read. The only major things that annoyed me was Callie's resentment towards her mother and the scepticism she had towards believing that her family would be telling the truth about her father. The only other thing that bugged me a bit, was the vagueness surrounding how an immortal is made.
Action, Adventure, Magic and Love what more can you ask for. Loved the descriptions of the area and people of this series. Was a great start of what promises to be an amazing series. Such a gripping story I could not put it down last night. Callie is not your ordinary witch and James is not your ordinary teenage boy. Their story pulls you into a wold that is a cross between Charmed (TV series) and The Highlander (Both awesome entertainment in my humble opinion). Looking forward to anther visit t...
Great addition to the Appalachian Magic series! (This is book 1 and reads like a stand alone. No cliffhangers) Not only was Callie & James' story a gripping tale of witches and immortals, it had me googling things like Dismals Caverns, the Battle of Selma, dismalites and thunderstones. It's clear that Herbert does her research on a variety of topics and it gives the story a depth not found as often as one would like in new adult. Fantastic addition to the paranormal new adult genre!
DNF @ 24%I promised I wouldn't DNF this but I had to due to the lack of caring.I couldn't connect with the characters. The heroine is suppose to be nineteen and in a junior college. What it really read like was the heroine is seventeen and still in high school. I can't tell if this was suppose to be YA or NA. I tried to stay interested but when the other book I'm reading had a better plot story in the first 6% than this did in the total of all I read, got a problem. I don't mean to say that as c...
I loved Callie and James! The plot was expertly woven and I couldn't stop reading! The concept of two different paranormals and the doomed Romeo and Juliet romance would normally drive me crazy, but this one was great. As soon as I finished this book, I started on book 2, focusing on two different supernatural species and a different character. Fantastic series! Five glittery stars!
Charmed and Dangerous: Appalachian Magic Series By Debbie Herbert5 starsReviewed by Char Webster for Late Night Books and ReviewsCharmed and Dangerous is the second book in the Appalachian Series. I really like this series because the story lines are awesome and they can be stand-alone books. Some of the characters overlap and enhance each other’s stories, but you can read the books out of order. The second book actually takes place before the first book.Magic is definitely in the Appalachian ar...
I forced myself to finish this book then was mad at myself for wasting my time to be so underwhelmed once I was done. There was something off about this book that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I feel like this was originally written with the main character Callie being in high school but someone suggested that she at least be in college and turning 20 since she falls in love with a 100+ something immortal. I hate insta-love! Back to my reasons I think the book was originally set in high sch...
This story starts off with young Callie and her best friend having a bad experience from using a Ouija board. She is sent to live with her aunt! Six years later, Callie is asked to come back home and she is full of resentment not understanding the reasons why she was sent away in the first place. As a young, talented witch, it is believed that she has the potential of becoming very powerful on her birthday. She is not totally convinced. James is Immortal and lives with his father who has a very
When Callie and her best friend Skye mess with the Ouija board one night when they were 12, Callie's life gets changed forever. I like witchy books, especially ones filled with secrets and lies, so I sped through Charmed and Dangerous. Part of what kept me glued to the pages was the detailed writing. The settings were incredibly vivid, and the witchcraft aspects were seamlessly weaved into the story. It was really interesting reading!
