I literally got in my car, drove to the bank, loaded up my card, and drove home just so I could buy the rest of the volumes online
Magical girls!!! At magical girl school!!! With a diverse cast!! One is Filipino, one is Muslim, one is Indian (?) and one has Autism and is non-verbal and I'm pretty sure at least one is queer, like, could this be any better???? *heart eyes*
this is so good holy shitalso an autistic, non verbal main character? with a gun??!!?! YES PLEASe
Magic school girl academy!!! This ones done pretty well it’s got a cool breakfast club feel in the first volume (I almost said episode, it read like a anime). Great for teens looking for a western story line with an manga edge.
This one had so much promise....diverse, ass-kicking magical teen girls who fight the patriarchy? Sign me up!! But the story was all over the place, convoluted, and just not as compelling as I’d hoped it would be. The art was also weirdly inconsistent...some panels would have crisp lines, and then the next page would be weirdly fuzzy/flat with see-through outlines and thick sketchy marks. Bummed that it just wasn’t for me.
I really liked this. The world and the story are pretty intriguing. And I'm always down for magical girls.
I really wanted to like this more, but the implicit amount of backstory/exposition that is never satisfactorily revealed mixed with sudden, absurd time jumps with no attendant exposition really made this not work for me.
liked the art, didn't like the story and gave up about 1/3 through
We all have a guilty pleasure, mine is W.I.T.C.H., that old series about young girls that transformed themselves into elemental guardians to protect the world, or Winx Club. I know, totally not what you’d expect a goth guy like me to say, but they are guilty pleasures for a reason, aren’t they? With the first issue of Jade Street Protection Services that drops this Wednesday June 29th I remembered those times when I used to watch both series, and more recently when I read the early comics in the
THIS IS A REVIEW OF JADE STREET PROTECTION SERVICES #1 & #2Five magical girls get detention at their elite private school and sneak away for kabobs and froyo. What they don’t realize is they’re going to get a lot more than that when they witness an utter betrayal from a surprising source. These girls will have to use their magic and their wits to figure out what exactly is going on and what they’re going to do about it.I absolutely love this series. I borrowed #1 from my friend and then bought i...
I got it because of the cover and it didn't disappoint. Wow. An all girls wizard school that teaches them to fight!!! I can't wait to see where this goes. The narrator is also an autistic girl who can't speak but loves to text. So cool.
i'm a wee bit confused, but there's potential. plus there's very few things i like more than ladies writing badass ladies in comics. it pleases my heart.
Not giving this one a rating because I recognize that it's just not my thing, but that people whose thing it is might think it's a very good example of that thing.
PERFECT. 5/5 stars. It's a masterpiece of inclusion and diversity in an entertaining package with heart. It's like Zodiac Starforce had a baby with Lumberjanes - but there's also so much more! There are a lot of "first time I've seen this type of character in a comic" moments and it's AMAZING. This is what EVERYONE should be reading. Thank you for creating this!!!
THE DIVERSITY! I'm not sure about the art.BUT THE DIVERSITY!
