What the fvck is that perfection that I've just read?Tom King is the King. He's the rex writer of small talk, of bringing out the colorful emotions inside superheroes (I am talking about Batman 37 and the Mister Miracle series). They are not just into crushing things and trashing villains. These superheroes, besides their awkward social interactions are also humans with funny hearts.Batman #37 is akin to one of Tomasi's Superman heroes where Clark, Lois and Jon went to a local fair. Batman 37 or...
No need for a review, just know that my feelings match Bruce's during this... experience... The two stars are for his sufferings.
The double date I never thought I'd see...or wanted to seeSo, the Bat and the Blue Boy scout double date with the Cat and Lois Lane. It's strange. It's Bruce and Clark doing something utterly average. Strange.
This is the infamous " Double Date " issue of Batman . I enjoyed the story in part . It got too silly with the rivalry between the two heroes . It is written by Tom King , and if you are a fan of his work , you should like this book and this issue !!
Really fun issue. I liked the relationship between Catwoman and Lois a lot. I really liked that they gave The Question a cameo, now he just needs his own title DC!!!
The S stands for hope. The bat stands for a bat. Best line for a great story. Watching the couples do such a mundane thing as going to a carnival should have been boring, but Tom King did an amazing job and made it something special. I love this series.
An excellent story about two friends hanging out together with their significant others. Explores friendships new and old, with quite a few memorable panels.
That was just fun. Tom King really knows how to write these characters.
Really? I mean... really? Double date? Funny costumes? Baseball? The new Batman was a nice proof that DC is totally out of ideas now, but this... this isn't even funny. Especially that one page with cotton candy... It's just... just a bad taste, that's all. It feels like one of those awful movies. Like Surf Nazis Must Die. Like when somebody thought that something like that would be funny, but in reality it totally isn't. Perfect waste of money. Still no idea why in some other DC Rebirth comics
One of the best stories I have read in a long time. It was pure fun to read. It gets to the heart of what makes Batman and Superman who they are. I would highly recommend this story to everyone even if you don't normally read comics.
This story was just sort of a nice chill story. Bruce and Selina out on a double date with Clark and Lois. They go to a carnival and not really a whole heck of a lot happens other than conversations and some hilarity. This was a nice little diversion.
This is a new kind of comic book perfection.
I just want to live in this perfect cinnamon roll of a comic forever.
How do you make a double date issue with Supes, Bats, and their gals even better?Gotham County Fair Greeter: "I'm sorry, but it is what it is, all right. It's rules. Superhero night. Got to be a superhero to come in. And you all ain't superheroes." *kicking them out**the squad in their street clothes looking at this mofo*But how does THAT get better? They not only go "in costume" but switch costumes. My dudes, get a hold of this Christmas gift, because it was WONDERFUL.
ExcellentIs there such a thing as a perfect issue? Because this is a perfect issue. No punch is thrown. No villain seeks to take over the world. All we're doing here is hanging out with our friends.
A slice of pure. This is the kind of comic that makes life itself feel that much more special. This is truly a remarkable piece of writing and art. Instantly dropping it into my favorite pile. I had a grin on my face on every single page. Quality of this caliber is so rare and you cherish it as long as you can, like a gourmet meal you only get to eat on a Saturday.I wish I could know these people. Like, that's writing that surpasses just a simple compliment like "good character." There are charac...
Let me set the stage again: Tom King writes a Batman story and it is the best Batman story I have ever read. What a time to be alive. Also -- that story I was talking about? -- it was the last issue of Batman. Stage is set, and then I read this Batman story. THIS IS NOW THE BEST BATMAN STORY I HAVE EVER READ.Tom King keeps (literally) knocking these out of the park. I still adore the art, so kudos on the creative team. Truly: What. A. Time. To. Be. Alive.
It is truly stunning what King can do with the form. This kind of character stuff is where his style works best. I dread the day we go back to the same old villain battle bullshit. I do wish the artist here were a bit more interesting. Lois's pose in the second panel of the issue made me so angry.
So much to love about this issue: The levity, humanism, parallelism, and humor. I love Batman when it’s dark, the darker the better, but something like this every now and then is good for the mental pallet.
REALLY light and cute.
