Not really sure about the plot and where it's going. The art is fantastic though.
I honestly didn't know what I was getting into with Unnatural but I've seen the cover around and was kind of curious. I just never wanted to use one of my loans on it. However, since it was offered up as a free Hoopla bonus borrw this month, I pulled the trigger.Admittedly, I didn't really read the blurb.Apparently, it's a romancy-erotica comic that mirrors racial and/or LGBTQ issues. The animal people who live in this world are required by law to mate with the opposite sex & same species. The l...
Stumbled upon this randomly while looking up new graphic novels on Hoopla and WOW I LIKED THIS A LOT. Cannot wait to carry on and read the next volume tonight!
Vol. 1 ★★★★★Vol. 2 ★★★★★Wow, this graphic novel is so gorgeous! I love this pastel goth vibe and Leslie's such a sweet, likable protagonist. I was a little confused early on as to who I was supposed to be rooting for as far as the other characters go, and there were some little twists I definitely didn't see coming. The plot is a little bit terrifying, as it kind of reminds you of some sort of twisted dystopia, only with anthro animals instead of regular humans. I was really just fascinated by t...
This is an adult version of Zootopia with Orwellian overtones. Leslie is a pig girl having erotic dreams with a wolf she's never met. She's turning 25 at which point the authoritarian government forces you to marry or pay heavy fines. Interspecies and same-sex marriage are outlawed. There's this whole conspiracy / past lives thing introduced in latter issues that felt out of place, like Andolfo couldn't decide what she wanted the book to be about. This book was translated from Italian so the dia...
Unnatural echoes sentiments of Black Mirror with elements of real-world totalitarian plausibility exemplified through birth and mating control, as well as overtaxing those few who dare to be different, stretching the populace into poverty. While this all consuming and thought provoking story draws comparison to current day events and spotlights the strength of diversity, it's a fun and wholly entertaining light erotica with fantastical elements which steadily build each chapter into an epic cres...
This was surprising, but good.I randomly decided to check this out from Hoopla. I'd passed it over and over again and then I decided that it was time to give a try. Surprisingly, I wasn't disappointed. I didn't know much about the premise. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't read a summary. Unnatural focuses on an animal society where citizens are forced to connect and "mate" with animals of the same species and only in heterosexual relationships. If citizens break these rules then they face fines...
Unnatural V1Warning: This review contains a lot of sexual discussion due to the nature of this comic (which is very NSFW). If sexual content makes you uncomfortable, you probably shouldn’t read this book or my review for it.What’s it about?Leslie is a pig-girl who keeps having erotic dreams about a wolf. The thing is that isn’t good as sexual relationships with animals of a different species are illegal in this book’s world of anthropomorphic creatures, so is homosexuality. So now with her frien...
I read the entirety of the first volume and it is as interesting as the teaser chapter alluded to, more interesting even. What I thought would be a simple, steamy romance type of story is not at all what I got. Intrigue, remote cultures, murder, shamanism, secret organizations and a heavy-handed government are all packed in this volume.Fast-paced with beautiful artwork, I enjoyed this comic.4/5 - I definitely want to read the next volume.
Update: finished all 3 volumes. It stays pretty good but remains totally un-subtle. It wasn't until volume 3 that I noticed the intentional references to both Animal Farm and 1984. (The pigs, lead by Napoleon, think they are "more equal" than other animals. The sympathetic rule-breaker is named Winston.)---Read with a book club. In the story, the "people" are all partly animals, like pigs, mice, wolves, etc. The government penalizes any sexual relationships between different species, or between
The art work in this is seriously gorgeous. I love Leslie and how beautifully thick she is! While this is erotic, it really isn't outside of some female nudity, you see more graphic sex in things like Saga, honestly, so if you can handle that, you can handle this. And while I loved the premise and how closely it aligns with current issues our world faces on love being love no matter who it's between, I did find the story lacking at times. Things tended to jump and move too quickly so when certai...

3.5. StarsMirka Andolfo has definitely crafted quite the interesting story here. The intrigue builds up until the last issue in this volume and the end reveals a situation that will be very interesting to unravel. Very much looking forward to the rest of this series
This was a shocker of a start and one I really enjoyed. I’m a huge fan of taking moral questions about humanity and giving them a different face because it makes it both easier and harder to cope with and that’s a compelling story. I will 500% be continuing on to the next volume.
