Position and Thrusters
That’s what DP’s about\Ship’s desired position goes in
Thrust commands come out

Generators and thrusters
Is also what it’s all about
The generators put the power in
And the thrusters put it out.

NASA’s moto says, ‘Failure is not an option’
But in DP failure is always a possibility
But not to allow for failure, is not
So DP invariably
Involves redundancy.

We don’t use anchors in any way
They’re just so passé
Compared to Dynamic Positioning
Moorings are totally boring
After many years of searching
It came to me the mantra
‘Anchors are for Wankers’

So come on a journey with me
About this technology.
It’s many different engineering disciplines
Some of the personalities
And plenty of ‘sea stories’.
There should be plenty here for amusement
For those with or without out a technical bent.
