The Washington Experiment - How the American Financial Market Regulation survived the International Financial Crisis in 2008

The Washington Experiment - How the American Financial Market Regulation survived the International Financial Crisis in 2008

Sebastian Meyer
0/5 ( ratings)
The author assesses why the US financial market system was capable of internationalizing their market rules and laws with great success during the International economic crisis during 2007 - 2008. Considering the European contestations of U.S. regulatory dominance, this phenomenon had been unpredictable. Through the domestic regulation of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, the U.S. filled the gap between market based regulation and systemic risk. Consequently, as a solution to systemic risks, the American market power has been leveraged by its political leveraging of its significance as a market and its regulatory expertise. Prior to this scenario, the US politics on the global financial market system had an essential impact on the Financial Stability Board in Switzerland. Thereby, its reforms became a benchmark for developing a regulatory market system which controls both arbitrage as well as the American financial market dominance globally.
