I picked up my paperback copy of this anthology at LTUE this year, and immediately set about collecting all of the signatures from the authors that I could find. I’ve currently got everyone except for Nancy Fulda, Wulf Moon, Beth Buck, and Julia H. West. Once I have acquired these last four signatures, it will transform at last into a mighty book of power! So I only gave this anthology three-stars on Goodreads, but that’s not because it’s a bad book. Rather, it’s because my Goodreads rating philo...
I received a copy of this work from the editor, who requested a fair review. I was happy to oblige, as at the moment I was watching my daughter cheer for her middle school basketball team, and any distraction was welcome.Proceeds from the sale of this work will be used to sustain the ability to offer students attending the Life, The Universe and Everything conference a much, much reduced entry fee. That's worth doing, so, buy this one, okay? The authors DONATED their work to this cause!I've neve...
For me, this collection was a welcome surprise, I had not heard of the event for which the book fundraises, nor most of the authors in it. But most anthologies are widely varying in story quality, while I found every story here enjoyable and some outstanding.. Special mention to ‘The Ghost Conductor On The Interstellar Express’, ‘Glass Beads’, and ‘Working On Cloud Nine’. But then the last story, ‘Sea of Chaos’ knocked it out of the park for me. Framed by using the skills of Polynesian Wayfindin...
Trace the Stars is one of the most solid anthologies I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Although there were definitely stories I enjoyed more than others, together they form a compilation that is nothing less than a sheer delight to my sci-fi loving heart.I appreciated that while this was a male-dominated anthology, it wasn’t the sausage-fest that so many anthologies tend to be. Of 17 stories, 7 were written by females. The book begins and ends with works from female authors. Also, there was...
I enjoyed the stories and the order of presentation in Trace the Stars. Not only do they differ in styles, they differ in length. They run from roughly 4 to 40 pages long. You can find a story to read when you only have a few minutes.Trace the Stars does cover topics of war, but there is nothing too graphic and all of the stories are suitable for young adult readers. Some of them are suitable tales for possibly younger readers. You can read the complete review at https://guildmastergaming.blogspot...
I do not usually pick up sci fi, but this was a treat. All of the short stories were well-written.
