Not a fan of following rules? Then go ahead read book two before reading book one of the series. No one's gonna stop you. Probably won't make a lot of sense, but then again book two in this series is way better than book one, so it might just work.
On the other hand, if you are a sheeple who always reads books in sequential order then all you need to know is the Ridgeman boys split up in this book so they can create three times as much trouble. They then act all innocent, pretending it wasn't their fault, as they proceed to save the day.
Airon goes to school, Soren get's arrested, and the sweet innocent brother, whatever his name is, joins a gang. Don't think Airon is trying to make his parents proud or anything. He does everything he can to get expelled. Soren, actually starts to enjoy being locked up...three squares and plenty of me time, what's not to love? As for the other kid, thug life seems to fit him like perfectly aged leather armor...the kind with bat wings and bad ironic gang names, like...The Orc Fairies.
In the end it turns out it's their parents who might have been even bigger trouble maker, than the kids. A classic tale of apples and their adventures in trying to get as far from the trees as possible, but the trees are more like Treants who just follow the apples around, and point out all the things the apples are doing wrong.
