I loved the first Camp Midnight so much, and I was scared the sequel wouldn’t live up to it... but it somehow surpassed it?! I’m not saying it’s all because of Leaf... but it might have been at least 70% Leaf. She was freaking adorable. I love the art panels and all of the quirky references. One of my new favorite graphic novels! Such a fun adventure that has a lot to say about valuing your new AND old friends.
Even funnier than book 1! Skye is basically me when I was 12, I swear! Haha! It's summer again, Skye's dad has re-married AGAIN and she is off to camp AGAIN, except this time she is not going to her beloved camp Midnight, she is off to a super chipper shiny, healthy brand new camp filled with... ghasp!... HAPPY PEOPLE. At least she has her friend Leaf (no jokes please) to keep her company, because she is determined to loathe and complain about every second of her stay at the camp from her persona...
3.5/5 A fun and silly follow-up to Camp Midnight. This one sees the return of Skye, but this time, she gets sent off to Camp Daybright instead of Camp Midnight. She learns that having "normal" friends isn't all that bad and finds out that when she isn't freaking out about things that she can actually accomplish quite a lot. I kind of missed all of the monsters (just like Skye), but I think kids would still like it.
It was okay. Weird though.
Skye hated summer camp, or the idea of summer camp, until she went to Camp midnight. So, what happens in her second year? Her divorced parents send her to Camp Daybright, instead, which is the total opposite of her last camp. All the kids are normal, and she meets the sister of the ghost she made friends with the previous year. She also has a cousin, Leaf, along for the ride.It is all silly, for us, frustrating for Skye, and a lot of fun to read.Of course there are mean girls, and stupid camp act...
No where near as fun as book 1. I missed all the monsters and the snark.
Mostly for Fans of Volume 1In Volume 1 our heroine, Skye, had to come to grips with a bad camp situation, and she did so with flying colors. The book was amusing, with fun characters and a heroine who captured the reader's sympathy and admiration. In this sequel Skye has not been returned for another summer at Camp Midnight. Rather, she has been sent to neighboring Camp Daybright, the camp she was supposed to go to in the first book.Skye doesn't care for this development, and she makes that clear...
Camp Midnight v Camp Daybright by Steven T. Seagle, Jason Adam Katzenstein (Contributor) follows Skye is going to camp again and her Dad has also remarried again. This time instead of being sent to the wrong camp Skye is sent to Camp Daybright with her new friend Leaf and also comes into conflict with a girl called Gia who is the twin of her ghost friend Mia whom Skye met at Camp Midnight. I loved the sheer comedy of this graphic novel and loved Skye's reactions to being at camp again but not t...
I read the first awhile ago and barely remembered the plot but I enjoyed this immensely anyway. Skye has great dialogue and the art adds a great deal of character to the story, communicating with style and humor beyond what the dialogue itself is able to. I also love the way color is used throughout. The palette changes every several pages in a way that seems unconnected to the story but still manages to enhance the overall mood in a positive way. I would read more from this series. I might like...
It took me about 75% into the book before I actually started liking it. It's definitely different than the first one but overall ends up being a little better. Most of that can be attributed to Leaf's character, she was the best. Plus her dad is actually with a decent person now...wished we could have seen Mia.

I loved the first one, but I found this one meh enough that I gave it up halfway through.
I enjoyed this second volume too! The parts are not very impressive on their own but they come together very nicely.
