Unexpectedly hopeful. :)
A very short science fiction story..About humankind colonising other planets..Very good written and with an unexpected ending!!Dennis E. Taylor seems to me an author to keep in mind..If you love short stories like I do, then go for it!!Dean;)
Pretty quick -
The author is one of my currently favorites in the scifi genre, ever since the glorious Bobiverse series.Earth is dying and it cannot be reversed. So humanity is leaving and trying to build colonies somewhere else. The ship Ouroboros is a scout ship tasked with checking out possible new homes and delivering colonists there. But there are some … erm … complications. *lol*This is only a short story but the universe we find ourselves in is instantly familiar and captivating (the narrator being fami...
Even though it was a short story, I felt there really wasn't any development or depth. Not a usual Dennis Taylor story.
A great short scifi story. Currently free on Audible.
I have a friend who is in to his modern science fiction and he is always sending me recommendations of what to try next (bobverse anyone) and I have to say so many of them very intriguing so I thought I would give it a go and give a few of them a spin (so what out for more to come) - this being one of them.I have to say that as as standalone story it is rather good and does not pan out in the way I was originally expecting it to go - which I have to say was a refreshing idea. I think for me havi...
Meh. This was alright - nothing great. Just an ok short story, but I'll probably read most things Taylor writes.
Interesting novella. Short story with much food for thought. Somewhat along the same lines as his Bobiverse series. Maybe there is hope for the human species?
A great little Sci-Fi short story. Well worth taking a few moments to read.
I am biased because I love anything Dennis Taylor writes. But this was fantastic. In a way, I wish it was a full length book, but that is just because I want more to read from this author. I see that this was just the right length for this story, so it wouldn't be good to force it into a full book. I enjoyed reading it over a relaxing weekend lunch. If you like sci-fi, don't miss this.
Incredibly short, but enjoyable. With a runtime of less than 45 minutes, there is no time for character development or elaborate settings or backstory. However, this is a short, well thought out (as always for this author), smart and interesting story. What this is, is basically an episode of a show that doesn't exist. The story starts mid plot, of a ship fleeing a dieing earth and the target planet is not quite as optimal as planned. The story is told through the pov of the ships captain. His limi...
A Change of Plans is a science fiction short story that is set in the far future of humanity. The Earth is dying as our Sun expands. The last hope for humanity is a plan to establish colonies on planets similar to Earth. In this future, corporations seem to be controlling this effort and as with all corporations they cut corners to save costs so they can get as many humans into space as possible. Even if some of the colonies are highly unlikely to be viable. We join the story as the crew of a col...
