I have read all the books in the series and I love them, but this one fell a bit flat. It felt like a bridge book of sorts. Tess wasn't really involved in the main mystery as much as she usually is, but there was also not much furthering of the over-arching mystery which is why I call it a bridge. There was far too much filler of mundane things. Lengthy descriptions of Tess and Tony making dinner or cleaning up. I also finished the book scratching my head because the title was The Puppy Project

I love this series, but this installment ended awkwardly or I would have given it 4 stars. Wish we could give 1/2 stars. I guess the book did resolve the main plot arcs for this book, but then it just ended. despite the ending, I'm looking forward to the next installment.

The Puppy Project by Kathi Daley was another cute cozy mystery with Tess, Tony, Bree and Mike in White Eagle. During the ground breaking ceremony for the animal shelter expansion, a skeleton is found and the hunt is on for a murderer. In this one Tess has some big personal decisions to make regarding where she wants her professional life and her personal life to go from here. The mystery plot was quickly paced with a few twists and a surprising reveal.

I liked this one, it had a great plot investigating a set of bones discovered during groundbreaking at Brady's new facility turn out to be a young man who disappeared. Tess is making some big decisions regarding her future and I love to see how she's evolving as the series goes on. I do have to say, I'm rather tired of the Dad storyline and the issues it's causing, the whole thing is just bizarre.
