I feel like this book is maintaining the quality it started with consistently— which is both good and bad, because it needs to get better. Adding Spike in as a lead is a good move, but it’s still unearned. I’m glad to see Kate incorporated, and I hope they use her well. I’m not a fan of what they’re doing with Fred, which is a shame. There was a cool, metaphoric story at the heart of this volume, but it’s kinda bogged down by all the underdeveloped characters and relationships. Still, another fa...
*3.5
Hmmmm... They hate it each other. One with a soul, one without, seems like a tough partnership but entertaining nonetheless.
This is the first book I've been able to finish this year. Hooray! I just finished watching Buffy all the way through for the first time. So, I decided to read some stuff in the Buffy Universe to keep the fun going. This is the first thing I picked up (on Hoopla), and I was fooled by the "vol. 1" in the title, so I haven't ready the previous volumes that may have helped provide a little context. Overall, the story was pretty good and the art was decent. It's not something I'd read again, but I l...
if spike and angel just made out i think it would solve half their problems
Bringing Spike into the book instantly makes it better. Angel and Spike together make for an interesting dynamic. The story itself this arc is a generic demon story. The demon's powers change constantly without reason. Monster stories work best when they play by a set of rules. Really all the main plot is is a device to introduce Kate into the book and position Fred with Wolfram and Hart. Gleb Melnikov's art gets better with each arc. He was a good find for Boom.
The Kate/Mara connection is interesting and I’m always happy to have more Spike. Curious to see if we get a version of Illyria in this universe.
This series (which I'm reading as single issues) was well-served by not being directly involved in the Hellmouth crossover event with Boom's Buffy series. By comparison, its storyline is moving at a reasonable pace and the writers haven't tried to introduce too many familiar characters too quickly rather than bringing them in gradually the way such things typically happen. (I think the Buffy series has tried to do too much too soon after a strong first set of issues.)My only complaint about the
Now we're getting somewhere. With Angel & Spike on the same page, it's time for plot lines to start sizzling into something bigger, as Wolfram and Hart make their move on Fred, and the mystery surrounding Gunn deepens. And all the while, Kate Lochley's on the outskirts just waiting to get her hands in.The main plot here actually isn't the main draw - it's a generic demon slaying puzzle with a few little hints at more for Kate further down the line. But the side stuff with Fred and Wolfram and Har...
Why these dude writers always doing Fred so dirty?
Freed from the shackles of Buffy and the Hellmouth, Angel Investigations comes into it's own. Still spotty on the plotting, backstory and conveyance of information, but it's getting there.
I volumi della serie con Angel e Spike sono una garanzia, un duo magnifico. The volumes of the series with Angel and Spike are a guarantee, a magnificent duo.
Another great volume in the BOOM iteration of Angel's adventures. I was curious how much of a tone change there might be with the switch to the Angel+Spike title but it was purely cosmetic. The writing and art are still totally spot on and this new version of these characters and how their story is unfolding remains compelling and keeps me involved and invested.I'm kind of worried about the next volume as it is the final chapter in the series (having been cancelled, most likely for sales) and th...
I thought this was a good graphic novel with Angel and Spike teaming up. I like how Gunn and Fred team up with Spike because he helped save them. Now Angel is not so happy about it, but when another demon has risen from the Hellmouth then they would have to put their difference aside and team up with Gunn and Fred to help
Really enjoying this story progression, can't wait for the next issue. Wish Buffy would come into play though.
This was fine, better than the last volume for sure. I think I would like it better it wasn’t meant to be part of the Buffyverse. I feel similar about the Buffy comics themselves. Both titles started out pretty strong, but went downhill quickly with that crossover.I think my biggest issue with the series is that these are such different iterations of the characters, and yet, we’re still expected to care about them as though they’re the ones we already know and love. I’m fine with change, but the...
Look, it was fine. The art was fine, the story was fine, the teaser at the end was fine. This just really feels like much ado about nothing for me, in largest part because everyone says things that are just way out of character, and people’s motivations are only seldom fleshed out. But it was fine. Yeah. It was fine.

Deze serie begint meer en meer op de tv serie Angel te lijken 🖤
