This is another great read by BR Kingsolver. If you like a strong heroine and great writing give her a try.
This book is much the same as the last two. The plotting is quite similar with just a few more friends around. Erin is growing by millimeters. The similarity in the plots is underwhelming me.
Another great storyI’ve really enjoyed the first three books in the Rosie O’Grady series. Wonderful characters and an interesting storyline plus great fight scenes. Funny lines and lots of laughs. What’s not to love. Check out his succubus series as well.
I hope this is not the last bookI loved all books in the series. Kickass heroine, friendship, redemption, intrigue... All there. I also love that the books focus on the story line, actual relationships and not just hookups. Sometime you really just want to read about adventure, intrigue.I hope the series continues. The story can go so many ways.
Really awesome trilogyI picked up the first volume after reading a Facebook comment by a friend of a friend. She had called this "not your mama's urban fantasy." Boy, was she right!Rosie's Bar is a hangout for witches and mages, some half-fae, and other paranormals in Westport, a smallish Oregon city by the Pacific. It just happens to be at the intersection of two major ley lines, conduits for magical energies. A young woman called Erin McLane, who has many secrets, has sought refuge in Westport...
This is third in a UF series and you definitely want to read in order. This is more of the same and that's a good thing. This one isn't quite as good as the others. It takes place over months and has a sequential feel to it as Erin and friends respond to a trickling invasion of leftover Hunters. I liked the aspect that showed the supernatural community come together along the lines Erin first forged. It shows how her broad-minded willingness to talk to others and give them their due worked as a p...
I should say right from the start that I really enjoyed this book, but the author really does take some liberties. There are so many murders, kidnappings etc in this one small city that nobody in their right mind would ever live there. In the last book Westport got a new vampire master, yet there are still dozens and dozens of vampires running around kidnapping children. It all adds to the excitement, but it does stretch my belief in the 'world' she has created. She also played games with Erin, w...
3.5Fun, but I just kind of felt a little disappointed.(view spoiler)[ Erin didn't really even settle things with Trevor- they just kind of ignored what happened and wham he had a new girlfriend and things were fine? Why even make him a love interest then? Also the finale with the Master was so insignificant I don't know why it was so hyped up if it was going to result in that kinda outcome. Him being a all powerful blood mage and swordsman was also pretty pointless in the end. (hide spoiler)][...
Love this seriesAnother terrific outing. I like that Erin is moving forward and building a wonderful network of friends. This series holds your interest throughout and is well worth your time. A standout in this genre.
I actually debated between 3 and 4 stars for this book... I still can't explain what's keeping me involved in the series but here I am, ready to pick up book 4!During book 1 & 2 I was really curious to see which way the romance was heading... by this book I'm no further forward but not for the same reason ((rolls eyes))!I really like the characters, but again, as in book 1, there's still no hierarchy... I don't feel Erin is too far in front as our leading lady (maybe lady is the wrong word!!)......
Another terrific story in the life of Erin McLane but it’s about time to make one of her romantic interests take root!
Oh. This is my favorite of the series (so far)! A lot of action and a bit of crazy. 4.5 swordsThis series continues world building in each book and I love it. In this book we really get to know the group of friends Erin has made. They are an interesting mix of skills and personalities. That might be my favorite part. :) I love when I learn more about characters naturally, especially when it truly fits the narrative. It's kind of like being a part of the group and getting to know each other. I ca...
Another great book in the series! What amazes me about this author is how varied the series are. Usually an author has similar but different series, different twists on the world's they build or continuation of an existing story but with a new main character. I've read the Succubus series, the Chameleon series and now the Rosie O'Grady series. Each book I read cover to cover in a day (I read multiple books a day 🙄). They are all well written with wonderful characters. I wish the Succubus series h...
Hoping this isnt the end of this seriesBook 3 ties up some lose ends for Erin and finishes on a happy note. Not sure if more books in the series are forthcoming and the ending is a neural point to end the series, or leave it in an hiatus. Personally I'm hoping this series continues. Character development along with world building is great and we see additional characters starting to be born in the pages of this book. Overall this series is definitely worth reading.
I was very disappointed in this book- I was expecting so much more. The interesting parts were so few and far between that it could barely hold my interest. It was like the same old stuff. I did like the ending however.
