Looks to be yet another popular mean girls vs edgy outcast girls. But with magic. There may be some sort of twist in the plot, but I'm a tad over stories painting everyone with such broad stereotypical strokes like this. The gist is that a new girl in town (who looks just like a girl that has recently gone missing) has to choose between hanging out with the powerful popular girls or the magical misfit girls.Hmmm. Wonder what she'll do?I might come back to this for a Halloween read if I hear good t...
Girl with a sad past arrives at a new school only to gain the attention of both the mean popular girl and a group of weird outcasts who are probably witches. Not exactly a new idea but we'll see where it goes.
Interesting. Historically inaccurate, but I'd like to see where it goes.
Potential
More Harry Potter influence, and more Cultural Marxism, where the white people, especially the males, are either evil, stupid, or uncool. Heavily cliched. The art was okay, but the writing was terrible. Then there was a pretty bad attempt at utilizing the history of the occult in the West in the story. If writers are so intent on using that as a plot point, a little bit more knowledge on the subject shouldn’t be too much to expect, not to mention some more skilled writing in the process. Don’t w...
“Missing girl. Missing girl’s locker. Bees, Ravens… and your standard secret locker message.”The first issue was very short and it did not capture my interest enough to make me want to read the next issue in the series. It gives off “The Craft” vibes but was unfortunately underwhelming. I was hoping for something new and interesting but it appears to be a series where what happens next becomes very predictable.
This is...different and promising. I mean...new girl comes to school befriends unpopular boy and then interacts with "mean popular crew" and "weird crew" isn't a new story...but it's kinda handled a bit different. The art is good and I'm intrigued.
3.5 ⭐️
This was a cute attempt at a witchy mystery story style Sabrina. Only if Sabrina had a gang of misfits at her side. The art is cute and in the style of many other books in the same genre, so nothing special. The writing felt a little info-dumpy and not very imaginative. I subscribed to the series with great enthusiasm and now had to unsubscribe. I'm gonna have to read the next two issues since I already paid for them...Let's just say I am not going to do it soon. Meh.
2.5/5[ENG]I thought it was going to be interested, but it ended up being super predictable. A new girl comes to the old towns of Crab's Eye and find out that she's a witch. The amount of attention that she gets both from the cool group of girls and the weird gang of girls is insane. I didn't like it a lot, there's nothing like a plot. But, the art it's quite beautiful if you enjoy the dark style. There's also a lot of unnecessary build from a novel this type were the lector can guess a lot withou...
maybe gonna continue this cuz of Vikki :3
I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I hadn’t heard much about this (could be out of the loop) but I really enjoyed the storyline and the art. The story kept my interest and I want to know more about the main character and what happened to her family. Looking forward to reading volume 2.
The beginning and premise sound very interesting. I want to know how the comic evolves
Seems to be The Craft meets Mean Girls with two competing cliques campaigning for the new girl who happens to look just like a missing girl. Has some potential. Panosian's dialogue felt stilted at times. Feels better to trade wait this title.
How did I miss this series when it first came out? It has everything I love: high school girl gangs, badass bad girls vs. awful good girls, possible witches. The story was just awesome and I can't wait to see where it goes next!
(arc received from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review)This mysterious graphic novel is a very interesting start to a series I hope to continue! An Unkindness of Ravens begins after Wilma moves to her dad's old hometown, she finds out on her first day of school that a missing girl, Waverly, looks exactly like her. More family mysteries, betrayal, and a magical war between two factions hundreds of years old quickly follow as Wilma gets stuck between the high school's
The Craft meets Sabrina, the Teenage Witch but with kick. I'll see how the next installment goes before I make a full assessment. Entertaining for sure.
I love the illustrations here. A promising storyline. Will watch out for the next issues!
Issues 1-5Willa is a teenager who has recently moved to the small New England town of Crab’s Eye. After a few strange encounters at her new high school she discovers she’s a witch and is the very last one to know. And that’s just the half of it. Well, actually that’s all of it because they decided not to continue the story. This series ended after 5 issues with a serious cliffhanger. Like WTF?Gotta say, I was rooting for this to be great. It wasn’t. The story was slow and verbose. The artwork wa...
A promising start to a series. Interested in reading more.
