This was a fast book. It’s more of a Ya book which isn’t really my type of book to read. I’m sure the age audience they’re targeting will enjoy it. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy
What a ride! "Girl Overboard" starts out with a peaceful family cruise and quickly turns into a thriller! Izzy hasn't seen her friend Jade in over 24 hours and begins to question her disappearance. There will be no spoilers found in this review, but just make sure you have enough time set aside to read this as I did in one day! Along with the mystery, there are themes that I recall seeing frequently in my own teen life, such as peer pressures and navigating staying true to yourself. Sandra Block...
Decent read, might be a good “intro to thrillers” book for a younger YA audience. I struggled to get into the story, started out slow but really picked up in the end
#NetGalley #GirlOverboardRiveting thriller about a girl whose friend disappears on their cruise ship vacation. Fun, beach or vacation getaway read. This ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Izzy is a typical surly teenager. She really doesn't want to go on a cruise with her parents and her much younger brother but has no choice. She knows it will be boring, especially when she's told that she needs to severely limit her use of social media. How can she do that -- she has a new boyfriend at home and a best friend that she needs to talk to frequently. She decides that she'll go but definitely won't like it. When she goes to an area on the ship for young people, she meets Jade and the...
Girl Overboard is a fast-paced thriller that I think teenagers will really enjoy! It is an entertaining read that should be in every young girl’s beach bag this summer!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me an eARC of this book.Girl Overboard follows Izzy and her family as they take a cruise to Bermuda. Izzy is your typical sulky teenager and doesn't really have a lot of interest in going on vacation with her family and being cut off from her friends at home (she makes a very big deal about not being able to use her cell phone during the trip). Izzy meets a girl named Jade on the ship and the two become good friends. When Jade goes missing, Izzy makes it her mis...
This was a recommended book from NetGalley. The opinions are mine.I enjoyed this book. Izzy and Jade meet on a cruise. Neither wants to be there.Izzy is quiet. Jade is adventurous. Izzy thinks Jade is making some bad choices in friends. Izzy is with her parents and young brother. Jade is with an aunt and uncle who aren't concerned about her. Two opposites. Then Jade disappears. No one is concerned at first. Finally, Izzy gets through to a worker. The ship is searched. No Jade. Authorities are con...
Girl OverboardBy: Sandra BlockIzzy and her family are aboard a cruise ship. She is a bit of an outcast. She meets some people close to her age Jade and Caleb. Jade is not the best influence on Izzy, but makes her vacation exciting.Caleb tells them a tale about a curse which involves people dying on the cruise ship every other year. Supposedly people jump of the ship of their own free will. Sirens a dystopia creature is calling these people into the ocean. Suddenly Jade comes up missing, and the
Awesome thriller for teens. When sixteen year old Izzy and her family go on a cruise to Bermuda, she is reluctant to leave her boyfriend behind. Plus, what is she going to do all week? Luckily, she meets Jade through the teen hangout on.board ans they become fast friends. That is, until Jade goes missing. Those in charge want to believe that Jade jumped from the ship and want to wrap up the case. Izzy doesn't think Jade would do thar. A great story with lots of twists and turns.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an electronic ARC of this book.Izzy and her family are going on a luxury cruise to Bermuda! It’s her mother, father and toddler annoying brother Trey in one small room. Izzy is your typical sulky teenager and doesn't really have a lot of interest in going on vacation with her family and being cut off from her friends at home. Her mother tells her no cell phone usage due to the high cost of international rates. She is able to receive and send texts. It’s
This story was a bit slow at first, but is you stay through the first few pages, it becomes a really good read. Izzy is on a Caribbean cruz with her brother, who is a toddler, and her parents and is restricted to ten minutes online per day. She really does not want to be there. In the hang-out area for teens, she meets Jade, who does not want to be there either. The story is that every other year someone goes overboard from that ship, and sure enough, someone disappears. Izzy is convinced it is
Ohhh my younger self would’ve loved this book but my current self was slightly underwhelmed. I realize I’m not the target audience for this one, but I’m still glad I gave it a chance because there was a lot to like here and I can easily recommend it to younger readers. I think it would especially appeal to teenagers who want something a little darker and edgier but as a parent I would be ok with letting my own kids read it as it doesn’t go too dark or inappropriate. The setting was cool, I’ve ne...
Wow! I haven’t read a good suspense book in awhile and Girl Overboard had me thinking about revisiting this genre. I know I’m really into a book when I look up and realize I’m halfway done in one sitting. I was sucked in and fully invested in finding out what happens. Drama Drama, such good drama! Izzy isn’t jazzed to be going on a cruise with her parents and little brother especially when she’s leaving behind her boyfriend. Luckily the first day she meets Jade who is the same age, but much cool...
Izzy is a teen who meets Jade during her family's cruise to Bermuda. Jade is adventuresome, pretty, and popular, and meeting her means this cruise just turned fun and interesting. Until she disappears. Izzy starts to investigate Jade's disappearance and it starts to become evident someone doesn't want her digging into what happened. If she's not careful, she may be the next one to vanish. This is the perfect book for middle schoolers just getting into suspense/True Crime/psychological thrillers.
A locked-room mystery that was entertaining from start to finish. I really enjoyed this book, and will definitely be checking out other books by this author!Izzy is on a cruise ship with family on vacation. She is prepared for a long boring trip until she meets a girl her own age named Jade.. They become fast friends and begin hanging out with a couple of other kids... Until one day Jade doesn't come out of her room, Izzy can't find her anywhere on the ship, and Jades aunt and uncle swear she ha...
Izzy is dreading her family vacation—a cruise to Bermuda with her parents and much younger brother. But she befriends Jade, a much cooler girl she would never be friends with in real life. Jade is traveling with her guardians, an aunt and uncle who seem to not care much about Jade. When Jade goes missing, the cruise line seems eager to cover it up, then dismiss her as a teen suicide. But Izzy suspects the uncaring guardians as well as the much older casino worker Jade had taken up with. But nobod...
Cruise ships have always freaked me out a bit because if you fell off, or were thrown off, they would never know until it was far too late to help you. This book did not help to dispel any of my fears about this as our main character Izzy is convinced that her friend Jade never would have committed suicide off the crew ship. What follows is a twisty Investigation conducted by Izzy as she is determined to prove that her friend did not commit suicide. I thoroughly enjoyed this book even when I tho...

It just sounded so good! But I had to keep that in mind when reading it. YA thrillers are a bit less gruesome than other adult mysteries I have read, but still really good! BUT…I will say, I do not consider this a horror or a thriller. But definitely a mystery! Keep t...
