Ends on cliffhanger...
There things in this book that just was out of character for either the storyline or the characters. For instance when Leia went home and Nic did not have someone tail her. He knew how dangerous it would be but yet he let her go home by herself with no protection. This so out of character for someone who is protective and possessive. I’m going to read the next book and hopefully the authors has the kinks ironed out.
i had a good time reading this but i was just so disappointed with how nic was executed. like how do you write better side characters (i mean jason specifically) that have like 5 lines in the entire book better than than the main love interest whom we get to know via 1st person pov for half the book. nothing worse than feeling disappointed when you know there's potential. the ending was half assed too, i have no interest in picking up the second book because of it. anyway
Disappointing book. I was loving the "Beauty & the Beast" retelling. But it was a lot of build up with no satisfying release. Figuratively for the reader & literally for the characters. Or at least what i was wanting for them. It was bland. I liked the hero but the heroine was so f'n annoying. The actions didn't match the characters -- Nic wouldn't have let her go with no protection! She was spoiled sexually but that's on the author. The hero never seemed to get off -- or have his will power be c...
So. I don't know how to say this but I chose to trust the rating instead of the bad reviews. I read books 1 and 2 and I'm dropping the third. I expected it to get better but it only went on a downward spiral. The whole virgin thing? I get it but at least elaborate a little better on it other than she smells good and it makes her oh irresistible. Just... No.
Ahh! I'm on a total Paranormal Romance BINGE right now and I can't stop, so when I saw the teaser for this book (even though it was on Amazon Kindle) I read it, liked it, and had to buy it-- and I HATE ebooks. I will be extremely forthright saying this ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER-- so naturally I bought book 2... only to find out that too ends on a hanger and book three isn't released until LATE NOVEMBER 2021! Ahh!Anyway, onto the book... "Taken" begins with a heap of Leia's father's gambling debt, a
Ok, my reasons for a 3 star will not be popular with some but it is what it is .... as my kids say.World build and story line are easy to follow. Not repetitive. Bring in new characters and and drama with ease. No hiccups here.Leia was a bit of a snag for me. Not a very kick ass FMC and granted all FMC do not have to be physically strong, but mentally I do prefer it. Her past, present and future are just full of people walking all over her and she doesn't get pissed about it. Just takes it. Now
i have once again found my love for vampire romance. I absolutely love the build of tension between Leia and Nic. Also love how protective Nic is off Leia, I just hope she finally realises how much he cares for her and her safety. I hate the miscommunication between them, I wish they’d just be straight up honest about their feelings towards each other as their lies are putting Leia in danger. Ended on a cliffhanger so I’m straight onto book 2.
I really liked how these characters go at it with each other but the chemistry was off the charts. It has everything you needed and more in this story. You are going to love it as much I did and I cant wait till the second book to continue. Its amazing!!!!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Im bummed. This book was hard to get through. It was just painfully bland and simple. Im pretty easily entertained by all smutty vampire books too. Just felt like it was following a standard smutty vampire book guideline.
Leia is the owner of The Pour House. She is also about you lose her family's business because of her dad's gambling. She goes to the store with the last she has left. Outside the store, she gets assaulted by a hot rich man and gives him one heck of tongue-lashing before she gets her sense about her. Nic is the king, but he must abide by the old laws to take his rightful place. Something about a virgin and power. He is a casino owner and part of an old family in the area. Little does he know the
DNF. I made it 30% and was super bored. Writing was good but there was nothing original about the story.
An excellent start to a new seriesRoxy Ray has created a new cast of characters in the old southern town of Baton Rouge. Nicholas and his family have been in Baton Rouge for centuries. He runs the La Petite Mort casino. In this casino, a man has lost everything, his business, his home and now, even his daughter. Leia was included as an asset in the contract to extend his credit. If Leia agrees to stay with Nicholas for a month, he will wipe out his debt. She keeps her ancestral home and the busi...
Off to a Good Start . . .Nicholas Dupont recognized that Leia was his true mate when he first saw her. He is required to find a virgin in order that he can come into his full power as a leader. He hadn’t, however, expected to find his true mate! He offers her a deal she will be tempted to accept. He will forgive her dad's gambling debt in exchange for her staying with him for a month as his social companion for any business events he needs to attend. Leia agrees for the sake of saving her family...
Such a great story!I absolutely loved the 1st book Taken by the Vampire King by Lindsey Devin. It's about a young woman named Leia who runs a small family owned restaurant in Baton Rouge. But her father who has a severe gambling and drinking addiction has all but run it under. This restaurant is all that Leia knows and all she's had time for. No time for friends or even a man in her life. So she's a 28 year old virgin. She has a rather strange meeting with a man that she's never met before. Then...
This book was NEAR PERFECTION. It’s literally like a 4.95 stars. That cliffhanger wants me to pickup book 2 immediately and keep reading because DAMN!The only reason this is not 5 stars is because I felt the swearing was a bit much and I’m not one for too much swearing! Other than that this book was pure paranormal romance gold! Something about Louisiana Vampires sends chills down my spine! I bought this on a whim during a kindle daily deal and I LOVED IT so freaking much! There was very little
Very whiny & ungrateful. What is so great in your life that you have to get back to that? Why does she fight her attraction so hard? She’s like a 27 year old virgin who she herself said she wasn’t holding out for any specific reason other then lack of opportunity (which I don’t really buy either, but I digress)She is obviously attracted to Nic, he’s proven he could make her first time pleasurable & pleasant…so what is she waiting for. Then she says she is developing a crush, but still rebuffs hi...
This is how the story went:Leia: *sad noise* virgin.Nic: *whispers* virgin?Benedict: virgin virgin?Nic: virgin.NOLA vampire king: *lecherously* viiiiiirginNOLA vampire stooges: *lecherously* viiiiiirginSebastian: *lecherously* viiiiiirginNic: virginL: *screams* vampire!Nic: virgin!…to be continuedOkay. This book was dumb. Literally nothing happens except the word virgin. Nic is insta-lust and is like “all my enemies want her” but then keeps ditching her and then is like “why can’t she be safe???...
Easy quick read. But nothing really groundbreaking special. And one thing I am still annoyed by a day after reading it.. ancient vampire leaves his true mate several times alone. Not once but thrice. Starts a war because one of those times, has a bodyguard guard her in his house, a house full with loyal vampires and wards.. but doesn't send anyone when she is alone at her home? This is plain negligence. There must be a way to move plot without having a horny vampire King not having enough blood in
Idiocy.Sorry, but no way in any world would someone who was born into such a prestigious family and raised knowing the history of her mother's ancestral home and city be so ignorant and naive about vampires. Obviously, vampires weren't a secret, though they kept to themselves. Aside from their attraction toward virgins, that is. Leia's character is weak despite her inner resolve to be strong. So many contradictions, yet she denies the one truth she cannot stop from consuming her when she is up c...
