The Anatomy of a Love Story: the Prequel, the Main Event, and the rollicking Epilogue... Katherine Center has delivered the full riotous, awww-worthy package!STAR WARS - MOVE OVER! (jk!) Okay, so my tendency to hyperbolize is very apparent here, but we do see Hannah emerge from the chrysalis that she has been frozen in ever since her early childhood after her father left and her mother retreated into drugs and alcohol to escape the wreckage of her life.Hannah has no room for romance: she stays
I loved this book. There were quite a few laugh-out-loud moments, and the dialogue was witty and highly possible. I have to wonder who Center was imagining in the role of Jack because the longing in the slow burn was very realistic :P The casting off of an old boyfriend was very satisfying, and Center took the trope of fake dating to another level, along with the one bed setting.I think I've read all of Center's books so far, and I very much appreciate her well-developed characters, excellent wr...
4.5 romcom/bottle opener starsWhen I read this one, I was reminded that I really like the way Katherine Center writes and the characters she creates. Was it a bit predictable and sappy? Yes, and I loved it! This one made me laugh out loud and it was just the book I needed to read right now.First character – Hannah Brooks – she might not look the part, but she’s a protection agent, aka bodyguard. Hired by the wealthy, she’s an expert at keeping her clients safe. The company is based in Texas, but...
THIS WAS JUST THE BOOK I NEEDED RIGHT NOW!! After several disappointing thrillers, I was so happy to find myself laughing within an hour after starting this book!! It’s almost impossible not to!! This book just made me feel good!!Hannah Brooks is an Executive Protective Agent, more commonly known as a bodyguard. But what Hannah and those in her agency do is a much more skilled job. They need to stay close to their clients without being noticed – harder than it sounds as we’ll see.Hannah has had
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.when the book starts out with the short bodyguard main girl casually flipping the giant celebrity main guy on his rear end just to prove that she can, you know it’s gonna be good. But it wasn’t just good. Please allow me to elaborate.*breathes in*IT WAS ADORABLY PERFECTLY AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL.this book has all the best tropes: bodyguard romance, found family, one bed, fake dating, celeb and commoner, grumpy girl and sunshine boy. you
i think this was a little too ‘romcom’ for me, personally.i found most of the attempts at being charming and funny actually feeling juvenile and awkward. i dunno. its just a little too over the top for what i was wanting and expecting. i will say that the gender roles in this are refreshing. it was so interesting to have the female MC be the bodyguard and protect the guy. i think the dynamic itself actually worked out well. its just a shame that i didnt think any of the characters acted like ful...
The Bodyguard by Katherine Center confirms that romance novels still do it for me.Hannah Brooks is not having a good week. The next day of her mother's funeral, her boyfriend dumps her and he cites 3 reasons. The last one is like a knife to the chest. "You’re a bad kisser".For Hannah, the only way to deal with all of it is to immerse herself in her work. She is an Executive Protection Agent, a bodyguard. She begs her boss for a new assignment but the boss tells her she has to grieve and grounds
Hannah Brooks is 5’5” and not what people’s stereotype of a bodyguard is. That’s what makes her so effective. She knows many ways to kill a person, but the strategy is to figure out and diffuse the threat before it happens. Jack Stapleton is a wildly hunky actor who has been out of the spotlight since a family tragedy, but when his mother gets sick, he’d like to return home to the family ranch to see her through the treatments, but he’s got a stalker whose threats have gotten increasingly harrow...
I sit down with a Katherine Center novel the way many do in front of a favorite holiday meal: with salivating, wide-eyed anticipation. As always, Center’s writing wallops readers with wisdom, wit, and a deep understanding of her dimensional characters. And The Bodyguard is pure, unvarnished delight. It sparkles bright with flirtation, banter, and the all-encompassing thrill of falling in love over a thousand tiny moments of connection. I closed this book with the biggest smile and the deepest, s...
THIS BOOK WAS SO FUN!!! I lost count of how many times I laughed while reading. It was like a spoonful of sugar, or better yet, pure sunshine. I would not be surprised at all if it was immediately adapted to film, starring juggernaut actors like, say, Ryan Reynolds. A perfect feel-good romcom.Readers of mine might expect a certain amount of steam since I’m recommending this, but I’d categorize this as a non-pants-feeling type of book, so you can buddy read this with your virgin great aunt and no...
A tad predictable but didn’t take away from my enjoyment one little bit!Hannah Brooks works for a private security firm as an Executive Protection Agent. More commonly referred to as a bodyguard. No, she’s not your typical, hulking figure at six feet plus. Far from it, Hannah is an inch or two over five feet. Rather cute, completely unsuspecting. But make no mistake…looks are deceiving. She is an expert in martial arts and will gladly leave you broken in a puddle of mud if need be.After the deat...
Review posted to blog:books-are-a-girls-best-friend.com Swoon-worthy Jack Stapleton, Where art thou? If you existed, I’d trade places with Hannah Brooks in a Heartbeat! But then, I think I’ve said that about ALMOST every single one of Katherine Center’s leading men. I guess that means she’s got my number! Ha. (Truth be told, Jake, from Happiness for Beginner’s holds the #1 spot in my heart on the Katherine Center’s leading male character list - he is the definition of swoon-worthy!) A...
This was an excellent contemporary romance by Katherine Center. All my favorite elements were included: a country setting, fake relationship trope, and an underestimated heroine. He's a movie star, she's his personal security, and they fake it til they make it... in between death threats that is. I didn't find this story to be quite as deep as some of her other titles, but both characters present with their own traumas that allow important issues to be explored. This book really worked for me an...
Well. You know. I *wrote* this book. So. I probably shouldn't be reviewing it??? But also—how can I resist? I have read it, after all. Many times. And, for me, it's just pure sunshine. So . . . five totally unbiased stars! 😂

Ever since I read my first Katherine Center book, she became a must-read, drop everything author for me. So when The Bodyguard made its way into my hands eight months before publication, naturally, I dropped everything. As with all the other KC books I have read, The Bodyguard was everything I hoped for and more. All the feels in the all the right places, emotional where I needed it to be, heartwarming where appropriate and of course, the charm I've come to love from each and every one of Center...
Hannah Brooks looks like a sweet, petite kindergarten teacher- but she is actually a competent bodyguard who could kill you with a wine bottle opener or a dinner napkin, if she had to. And, she never gets attached to her assignments. So, nobody would be better for protecting mega movie star Jack Stapleton from his stalker, when he needs a bodyguard who could pass as his girlfriend so he can return home to see his mom through Cancer treatments. Until, Jack and his family start to fall in love wit...
4.25 stars "I feel like I've been lost all my life until now- and somehow with you I'm just... found." When I saw Katherine Center was writing a bodyguard romance, I was thrilled. I've read several bodyguard romances, but I don't think I've ever read one where the bodyguard was a woman.Hannah Brooks is tough. She may not look it at 5'5" with a petite frame, but she can (and has) take a grown man down easily. Jack Stapleton is a famous actor who has a stalker and even though he doesn't...
Oh hell no! This is the first time I’m giving a new Katherine Center book less than five stars! But hear me out my friends: this book could be easily adapted into Netflix romcom screenplay and with the best cast choices, it could be a hit. So I applied my formula when I read a little unreliable story and I imagined it as a movie script and started to make my own cast list. They may cast three Emmas ( Roberts- Stone- Watson) for the leading woman/executive protection agent/ bodyguard Hannah Brook...
4.5 rounded to 5 starsBoy, I really enjoyed this one! It came to me at a great time when I was in the mood for a little Rom-Com action. It didn’t hurt that Katherine Center is one of my go-to authors. Plain ordinary Hannah lives through her job. She is a hotshot Executive Protection Agent (aka bodyguard). She has just suffered a triplet of losses in her life, and she MUST get back from mandated time off to cope with her misfortune. Preferably to somewhere out of the country. Instead, her boss ha...
