The art is beautiful!
Meta human EMP, gangs, political bureaucracy, reliance on tech and energy,
First off, the whole premise without spoiling: that the electricity power in Gotham gets knocked out and that Batman must solve whatever mystery and resolve the situation before the night is done. That is kind of like how the Arkham videogames take place in one night. The fact there are thugs and certain gangs of people on the street out to take down Batman throughout, that is like the Arkham videogames too.Secondly, I like how Jock - the artist-writer - uses maps and is able to show each locati...
4.25 stars. This was dope!! GCPD is trying to transport a meta human criminal across Gotham to Blackgate with Batman in the sky watching. Long story short, everything goes horribly wrong and now Bats has to transport the criminal on foot with all these gangs coming after them. Bring on issue 2!!
Digging the art style and the ark for this tale, but the 1st issue pacing felt a little off, and so the sense of drama or scale... but conceptually I get it. I enjoy the prestige format and coloring was top notch, especially. EMP build up and then switch to night color palette. Looking for 2nd issue to kick story into high gear now that the real work begins... the haul!
A new villain, an interesting set up, and wonderful art by Jock.
Good startAs ever, the quality of the art is fantastic. Story itself feels a little generic, but it's only the first issue.
Hmm, story is.....ok? But totally elevated by the super artwork. Looks fab with some ace action panels.
Jock art, phenomenal as expected. Story is alright. Has a lot of potential.
I didn’t really like this. The art is fantastic, but I thought Jock has a horrendous voice for Batman. I’m very aware I’m a fan of Batman Reptilian and how Ennis writes the character there, so this critique may seem hypocritical, but Jock has worked with writers like Scott Snyder since the early 2010’s, so I feel like he has no excuse to not get Batman at this point. Ennis is outspoken that he hates superheros so that’s a different story, and Reptilian was never a regular capeshit book like this...
Quite interesting! The story is very simple, but effective and there is some good action, it's dark like DC should always be. I'm very curious to see the next issue!
Few things being set up here, as expected for the first issue. GCPD and Batman, are transporting dangerous super-villain E.M.P. from Arkham Asylum to Black-gate Prison, to be placed in some sort of electrical secure chamber in order to contain him. It's about 7 miles, sound easy? Nope, because the intense heat has riled up Gotham's gangs and they are all out for the transporter. Some have an agenda, for example they want to free E.M.P. but some seem to do out of a lust for pure chaos. The idea i...
A real treat in both art and writing. My first expe of a Jock comic and it does not disappoint! Wonderful.
I really like this concept and some of the art is phenomenal, excited to read more!Edit: I’m upping this to 5 stars because I cant stop thinking about it 🙏🏻
