Amanda was born in southeastern Colorado in 1979. She spent much of her time with her grandmother who loved poetry-so it is no surprise that Amanda also fell in love with poetry. It wasn't until her grandmother died in 1993 that she began to write poetry. Amanda's poetry reflects the trials and hardships in her life, along with the wonderful aspects. In college, though, her interests in poetry soared. She took several courses in poetry, and she was able to smooth the rough edges of her talent.
