Mini-review:I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series (plot holes, Deus Ex Machina [literally!], and all), but I don't think the graphic novel version fully took advantage of the visual format. The book is very dialogue heavy. The artist Claudia Campos relies on repetitive panels to create a a mood, be it awkward pauses or tense waiting, and unfortunately the artwork is occasionally wonky when it comes to perspective and human anatomy.Still I enjoyed it and it was nice to reread Amanda and Ky...
I have no idea why I gave this 4 stars. Will have to reread soon!
Love this!!! This is the graphic novel to Night Pleasures and I love it!!! I was astonished at how well this manga was written. I love Kenyon's Dark Hunter series of novels and they did an amazing job capturing the series. On to Volume TWO!!!!!
I liked the manga far more than the book. The art was simple yet elegant, the dialogues much funnier and the romance more detailed.
omfg i loved loved it its a must read!
Brought to you by Guest Reviewer JessicaWhen I first heard that the Dark-Hunter books were being retold and retooled in manga, I wasn’t sure if I was excited about it. When I heard that the Dabel Brothers would be involved, I perked up. I’ve enjoyed their treatment of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time novel, New Spring, and knew that the art would be excellent (though I notice their name isn’t on volume two, so… at least their initial involvement eased my worries). I was a slacker fan and didn’t pic...
Loved it can't wait for the next vol
An original English-language manga apparently based on a series of novels by Kenyon (the Dark Hunter series). Very interesting story - I particularly liked how the tales of Roman Gods and lore is melded with modern vampire lore. And the vampire lore has a lot of twists and turns that I've never read before. In this volume, we're focused on the folks that oppose the vampires and daimons. We have sexy, 2000+ year-old dark hunter (Kyrian) and a young woman with special abilities (Amanda). The two a...
I JUST HAVE TO SAYEverything by Sherrilyn Kenyon makes me happy so this post is probably biased and the review didn't turn out to contain much in regards to the managa.MY RATING ★★★★★ RATING EXPLAINED5 - AMAZING! Just always amazingREVIEWSo there I am at Dragon con when I see Kenyon's booth and I happily knock people out of my way as I skip over to her tables. Then I have a fangirl moment when I see some new stuff (cause I haven't been keeping up) and gush out "When did this become a managa!?!"
Can't wait to see how this graphic novel will turn out. I already read Kyrian and Amanda's story, so can't wait to see if this is as good as the novel. Not what I expected. It was a bit too PG-13 for me that it took away some of the emotions and reality of the story. And they did just briefly metioned some scenes and just left it that way. I couldn't feel anything strong as when I read the novel, but graphically it was OK. Some of the profiles of the characters are beautiful drawn but then it lac...
3.5/5- I feel like a lot of the story was missing? I haven’t read the Dark Hunter’s series yet - BUT - after reading this manga I want to read the first book and see what was LEFT OUT! Personally for me, this manga has WAY TOO MANY WORDS ON THE PAGE! It’s slows the reading way down. Less is more in manga for me. There’s no steam either. Kissing and lying in bed dummy clothed is not adult PNR. ————————————— 💠 ————————————This is just my opinion: I know that there are legions of Sherrilyn Kenyon f...
This was a really cool oportunity to reread the book. The graphics were absolutely amazing!
FINALLY I GOT MY HANDS ON THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL!I have loved Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters series since it first came out. I was so happy to find out that she also had the graphic novel. Since I love Kiryan's story, I couldn't not love the manga version. How I imagined the characters in my hear was a little bit different on how they were portrayed in the manga, but I guess that's normal. The story was the same as the book, so in my opinion it was like reading the book due also to the graphic nove...
It was very cool having the art to go along with the story. Kyrian's has always been one of my favorites, so this was so perfect to me!
I thoroughly enjoyed this little number!Being an avid fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Novels, when I found out this exsisted, I HAD to read it.I was not disappointed in the least. It's so cool to see the characters you've read so much of come to life. To see them drawn on the page, up against what you had previously imagined, it's just good fun! It's a good summary of Kyrion and Amanda's story with rereading the full length novel.I do suspect though, it might have some difficulties for anyo...
68th book read in 2018.Number 710 out of 728 on my all time book list.Made little sense.
This is not as good as I thought it would be. I feel it lost so much of what made the story so good. Too much bouncing around. It has been a while since I read the book, over two years. I was lost on who was who, what was what. The graphics were good, not great, just good. I haven't read manga in a while, but when I did read it, I was really into it. I will give the second installment a chance, but if that doesn't spark more interest I will not continue.
Ths graphic novel was excellent!Granted this is the first one I've read on my nifty new Kindle Fire so... I may be praising it more than usual since I was just loveing my Kindle Fire. The story wasn't original at all, but I enjoyed it anyway. IT was a decent paranormal romance. The graphics were great.Nothing else I can say really.
This was the graphic novel to Night Pleasures and I absolutely enjoyed it!
I'm not if I could give this a fair review as I picked this up because of pure curiousity because I love Sherrilyn Kenyon and LOVED "Night Pleasures " which is 2nd in the Dark Hunters series. This is Night pleasures made into a graphic novel.....to me it wasn't worth the price I paid for it, between the left to right reading the zig zagging back and forth the cartoons with the bubbles over their heads....it was all distracting to me.this also was not the complete book as there will be several mo...
