I was going to skim read this book because I thought there shouldn't be much new concepts to be learned here provided that there has been a lot of materials written about the man already. I'm glad I didn't. It's not a book that convinces you why innovation is good. It's a book that emboldens you to pursue your crazy ideas by telling you that it's likely that the most reasonable and realistic people you know who tell you your ideas won't fly because they just won't work in real life are probably
What a great book, The book is talking about the innovation and ideas Steve Jobs made in his journey with Apple company (Only apple), How did he make it better and made huge enhancements to the concepts and ideas for Apple Inc. The Book is Taking you from the journey Jobs started and (Stores, iPhone, Ideas ..etc) till the end. Thanks for Carmine Gallo and his amazing book combined both business and innovation together.
Typically a weekend-read with high-over principles of innovation. Still a nice read because of the, often obvious-but-good-to-remind statements. A bit of essence:- Innovation cannot occur in the absence of passion.- Passion the emotional fuel that drives your vision.- But passion is meaningless without a vision.- Remind to follow your innate ability.- Intrapreneurship.- Make people fall in love with your company and products.- Creativity is just connecting things.- Innovation takes confidence, b...
The odd good idea but generally light on detail and repetitive. If you're interested the seven principles are:1) Do what you love2) put a dent in the universe3) Stimulate the brain4) Sell dreams not products5)Simplicity - eliminate the nnecessary6) Create insanely great experiences7) Master the message
I feel like I got some good information from this book, but it was kind of redundant by the time I finished it. The basic message is to follow your passion, no matter what. It did remind me that my passion, from the time I was a little kid, was to write. So I need to pursue that to the fullest extent. I'm not sure writing about gastroenteritis is exactly what I had in mind, though....
Great and easy read to get your mind working about how to innovate like Steve Jobs. Of course, we shouldn't exactly replicate what Steve Jobs did, but his principles toward innovation should be considered. Rethink how you perceive consumers/stakeholders. Make products simple and intuitive. Innovate by thinking of how you'd use a product. Make customer service a priority. Sell dreams and experiences, not physical products. Enable others to achieve more by using your product. Innovators don't need...
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Steve Jobs was an amazing innovator, and this book was able to carefully craft what is essentially a guide to think like Steve Jobs. It's outlines basic principles, provides examples from Job's life, and also gives examples of other companies with innovators that exude these principles. If you overlook the fact that the author ignored Steve Job's character and his eccentricities (especially when it talks about his management style) the book is a great educational tool for aspiring entrepreneurs....
There are many books in this ilk but most aren’t worth reading being filled with condescending or unrealistic advice. This one however is different. It’s a superb read. Taking an enigma like Steve Jobs and writing about his ethos, achievements, advice, and vision is no easy task. But Gallo delivers a book that captures the essence of the man. Unlike other similar books there are no cliches, and no patronising or unrealistic recipes for success presented to the reader. A disclaimer that this book...
A light read from an author who has joined the cult of Jobs. Easy to consume (and forget). Lots of anecdotes (more from outside the Apple-ecosystem than I had expected), but not as many takeaways that can be applied. The key principles worth considering: 1) Do what you love 2) Put a dent in the universe 3) Kick start your brain 4) Sell dreams, not products 5) Say no to 1000 things (eliminate the unnecessary) 6) Create insanely great experiences 7) Master the messageWith that list you can now ski...
Lots of anecdotes about Apple, and surprisingly lots of anecdotes about other organizations. The topic is innovation, and given this is a generic topic, the advice and stories are all over the place. Generally, this focuses on Jobs and the way he does business, so if you’ve ready the biographies you probably already can guess quite a few of the anecdotes along the way. I did notice that there were some errors – at one point he mentions Apple would never make a PDA, yet they did with the Newton.
First off, I loved this book. Gallo writes with such great enthusiasm and love for companies who have great vision. You can't help but read it and feel inspired. However, the only thing that drops this down to four stars is that a lot of the concepts were written about in his other book, the Apple Experience. Of course, they are all great concepts and worth repeating but I found there to be a little too much overlap.
If you have read the other book of Gallo (presentation secrets of Steve jobs)You really don't need to read this one.The writer repeats himself very much.
Always inspiring to read details about how Steve Jobs lived, thought and changed the world.
In this book, Carmine provides seven principles for unleashing innovation. The principles are supported by examples from various industries, which helps to understand how to apply the principles within different scenarios. I recommend the book to those seeking new perspectives about the concept of innovation.
The book starts slow but soon takes off. For the first time it is clear to me how to define INNOVATION and how spectacular are the brains of some Apple like people. A must read for every business people, and not only.
This book is long on anecdotes and Apple-praise, short on practical application. If you are really intrigued by Steve Jobs and Apple, Inc.'s success, then you will enjoy this book and pick up a few helpful tips to assimilate into your life and work along the way. If you wouldn't give a plug nickel for an article about Steve Jobs and just want to vastly improve your ability to innovate, you're going to get seriously annoyed by the over-the-top worship of Steve Jobs and give up on the book before
Definition:Innovation is a new way of doing things that results in positive change.Quotes:"The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short, but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." - Michelangelo"Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become." -Steve Jobs"In every man and woman's life, there is a defining moment. It is a brief intersection of circumstances and choices that defi...
Steve Jobs did incredible things, but this book takes it a bit to far. I felt like the author presented Jobs as some type of god. I was not impressed.
In “The Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs,” Gallo examines the unique mojo that makes Apple Computer what it is today. Though articles, research and presentations, he assembles just what sets Apple apart from the competition. For example, by focusing on dreams and not products, the products will define themselves, how passion drives innovation not the other way around, knowing when to say ‘no,’ and how simplicity is the hardest part of all. Gallo sites numerous examples, from the original design
