Treasured Travels: Canada, A Secret Discovered is the result of a trip taken in 2007 to a small island, west of Vancouver. In spite of having been to Canada several times I did not know about this hidden treasure called Salt Spring Island. My dear friends Gay and Bob had built their house there and had invited me to visit. It is a place with tall pine trees, meandering trails, several quiet bays and the unobstructed view of the Pacific beyond. The little town of Ganges is the site of art galleries, small eateries and on Saturdays the place of a Farmer's market. People are friendly and ready to help. A sheep farm where cheese iproduced and a lavender farm are two pleasurable places to visit. From Vancouver or Victoria the island is reachable by ferryboat arriving at one of the two harbors at opposite points of the island.
