It rains often but this does not keep one indoors when so much is to be seen. The lush green countryside is inviting. Farmers raise sheep. Wool is sold in shops along with handmade scarves, cardigans and caps. The ruins of the Fern castle, ancient burial sites, the famine ship at Danbury, the monumental bridge to the old city Eniscorthy are appreciated due to explanations of well trained guides. Waterford, well-known for its crystal has also remnant ruins of fortifications built centuries ago to prevent invaders. Bunratty Folk Park is a place where authentic old village stone houses and a church allow a glimpse into village life of centuries ago. The Blarney castle is majestic. It is said that who kisses the stone at the top of the tower will become eloquent. Dingle is bright in the sun and also in the rain. The brilliant colored houses are charming.
