5 Mega StarsI was given this book for my honest review.Mia's continuing journey takes her to the heart of Texas. What an emotional journey this young woman has been on since her Journey began back in January. She has crisscrossed the United States and has been on one emotional journey after another. The forces that bind Mia are unlike any other book that I have read. The ups and downs that she has been through go above leaps and bounds. Mia is not just an escort but she is the keeper of souls. S...
Still immersed in this 12 novella series and I have been enjoying it! This is book #8. I will admit that sometimes I have had to suspend a little belief in reality when it comes to some of the elements. Mia is meeting new characters each month and seems to have immediate life long, soulmate friendships with everyone(Ok I'll believe it for now). Everyone is Rich and powerful. This is the high life...mixed with the low life and for the most part it works because its fun!!But this was the first mon...
**Received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review**I have to say that Audrey Carlan has done an exception job so far with this Calendar Girl series. Every month it just seems to get better and better and I am loving every single book in this series. the stories of each book are different and they never fail in keeping you entertained and happy. I was particularly very content with August because we learned a lot about Mia and her family. She found out about a family she wasn't awa...
Really had some issues with this one. The writing over the series has deteriorate. This one is no different and may be the worst yet. There is no surprise to how this installation is going to turn out because it is sooooo predictable. I knew the outcome within the first two pages. Also, there is a line that I find highly offensive in this referring to a person of color who is dressed well. Mia apparently wants to befriend a "sista" simply because she likes her shoes. I have it highlighted and wi...
4,4This was one of my favorite months, the appearance of Max in Mia's life was a good surprise. It was several moments of excitement that gave me several sighs. This book got more into Mia's family background and it was nice to realize that Max's introduction changed some of the dynamics and enriched the story.
2.75 stars. The entire time I was reading this I kept thinking that Mia is such a moron. I don't understand how she never pieced together that Max was her brother. She even had a flashback of him when he was younger and said he looks exactly like Maddy. It was utterly frustrating to read. As a reader you want to find out about the plot twist with the protagonist, not before them.
I usually detest serial novellas, but Audrey Carlan’s Calendar girl series has kept me engrossed to the point of counting down the days to each new monthly instalment. And August hasn’t just arrived, it has exploded onto the scene jam-packed with momentous events and turning Mia’s world on its axis as it sends her emotions catapulting into the vast unknown. A storyline filled with mystery and mayhem, August is definitely an extraordinary tale.As the series has evolved, Ms Carlan has succeeded in
1 star? 1.5? Lmao. This is straight up the most predictable thing I've ever read. From the very BEGINNING you know damn well how this is going to end. I'm reading other people's reviews and they're talking about the "amazing" plot twist and I'm actually SHOCKED. I mean all the books are somewhat predictable…but THIS was on another level. How on earth did you not see that coming? The author basically TOLD us. I actually can't believe…I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. Also, you know what I hate about this seri...
Mia has always put her family first but what she discovers in Texas will rock her family to its core.Mia and Maddy's lives will not be the same after this adventure. Max's revelations will change their lives forever. This emotional journey takes Mia out of her comfort zone and into a world that she has always wanted.Mia's journey of discovery has taken twists and turns and will hopefully give her the peace that she looking for. The next months will hopefully bring her full circle.I was given a co...
August (Calendar Girl #8) is the continuation of Mia’s attempt to obtain the money needed to save her father and pay back the loan shark. This month takes her to Texas where she meets Maxwell Cunningham. Max isn’t just another man to sleep with, but one who is going to change Mia’s whole life... Let me first say, I love Mia and her journey. She’s evolving wonderfully and July was a very pivotal point in her life. I was not sure that Audrey could make August even better. But alas, she made me cry...
August took Mia to Texas where we meet Maxwell Cunningham. If I could describe Max in a few words they would definitely be "Family Man". Right from the begining, I got the sense that Max cares deeply about those he cares about. As Mia and Max's story develops, it shows that Max has a big heart. The month's installment definitely tugged at my heart strings and threw in a surprise or two! To top it off, Max made me cry! I feel like I say this with each installment, but I can't wait to see what Sep...
Well....this one really took an interesting turn. I liked what Mia found out, hope it gives her a better foundation in her life. I do worry a bit about Wes and the last bit that Mia found out about her dad. I have a feeling there are going to be big changes ahead for her.
I love it with these books that there is a real storyline. Not all are great but it is nice to see it progressing.I really enjoyed this book as this was not so much focussed on sex but more on friendship family etc. A completely different book than the ones before.
To be honest I just want to know what happens to her at the end of the year.
First off, my thanks to the author for the name drop. That's a first for me and I'm honoured and proud for it. Now, I really can't say it again ("it" being my gushing over Audrey's writing and the series), so this will likely be the shortest review of an AC book from me to date. But, I will give praise for the twist in the story, for boldly going somewhere I never ever would have expected. As if Mia's life couldn't get more complicated, if her emotions couldn't go through more extremes, Audrey to...
Here I was, thinking I've got it all figured out. I actually thought that by the ending of July. I can tell you, I did not expect this ending. This definitely was a plot twist for me! I really am curious about what will happen during September.
Re-read in October 2020.This installment was the best one since the first one.Mia´s journey is taking some interesting twists and turns!!
Holy crap! I love this series, but this book takes the cake. I was blindsided by this one. Mia has strengthened her relationship with Wes, and then her world changes suddenly. He doesn't want her to keep working as an escort, but Mia is very independent and wants to do this herself. She is off to Dallas to play the long lost sister to an oil tycoon, Maxwell Cunningham. She is quickly taken with his family and grateful for her role as anything but a romantic interest. When things go sideways for
familiar (adj, hence n) familiarity, familiarize, family; paterfamilias.1. Family comes from L familia. 2. Familia has adj. familiar is of the (all-senses) family. 3. The master of the household is paterfamilias, (lit), father (cf) PATER of the family. After everything, FAMILY meant so much to Mia. Mia's deadbeat, gambling father is in a coma after a beating dealt him by her loan shark ex, Blaine and her Mother left them long ago. Other than Aunt Millie for whom she works as an escort, her only o...
Well this was a quick and Nice read, we got more of a story and there's going to be a real Mission. *applauding* well I really liked this one, which is refreshing.
