This book was exactly what I expected... a likeable girl who has a lot of sex with hot dudes. It's not my my typical read, but I was in the mood for something different. I ended up enjoying it and I really like Mia. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
January: fun at first, quickly turned boring. It repeats itself. 2 starsFebruary: a French artist guy? really? Can it be more cliché? 1 starMarch: stopped reading after the first chapter, pff 1 star
I try this book out of curiosity. I was much more repulsed by the hip of this series then seduced, but then I kind of hate being manipulated by marketing and Calendar Girl, with its trendy theme (prostitution, hum? but to save my darling father! oh okay then, quite good, yeah, good girl, carry on) and its prompting to read (and buy) a book a month (clever or not?) didn't appeal to me.But I was curious. I'm usually are.And I could have being wrong! I sometimes have fell for a famous book and I th...
These stories kind of touched me, and i already have a favorite person! I'm not gonna tell who it is, but i really hope he is gonna end up with Mia at the end. The stories were actually a little more different than i expected, but in a good way of course! Wes was the first person, and i had like an insta-crush on him! Alec was a little more sympathetic on an emotional level, and the last two where so adorable, i couldn't contain my excitement! I look forward to book number two!! And i still have...
Calendar Girl wasn’t a series it was an adventure. A year long adventure of self discovery and fun for the main character, Mia. This series is amazing because it can be binged or it can be read in short snippets by reading a month at a time. The storyline is all the angst and drama filled goodness you want from a Las Vegas setting.Mia is hard to crack. She is a fighter and I really admire her and loved seeing her grow through the year.
3.5 starsCalendar Girl is all about Mia. And how she needs money. Fast. To save her dad from bookies. And the way for her to earn money as fast as possible is to become an escort in her aunt's escort service company...The story was quite fun, but there isn't all that much substance to the characters yet. I will definitely keep reading, though, because there is an overall story arc that is interesting enough to keep me going.
Ok....this could have been a good book, however she was a high class whore.. sorry for the harshness but I call it like it is. I'm very disappointed she's sleeping with these men. That's gross! I was hoping she stayed dedicated to Wes while still being an escort, but the author whom love took another whole route. I'm sure this is a great series, but I don't have the desire nor the patience to read about her with all these another men. Even if I'm sure she'll end up with Wes in the end of the ser...
Danish blogpost to come
DNF at 19%! I honestly can’t get myself to read another page of this book! I’m not interested in the story (if there even is a proper one bc so far it’s basically just been sex scene after sex scene), I don’t feel connected to the characters and I don’t like the way this book is written. In my opinion, the author just threw together every clichè & cringe-worthy sentence you can find in sex scenes of other smutty adult romance books while writing the sex scenes in this one. I feel like the longer...
3.5 Dollface StarsOk, I totally thought I was going to hate this. I've had this on my shelf for YEARS, but once again, with AE disappearing, I pushed it to the front of my TBR. I gave myself a total out, if I don't like the first, I'll DNF the rest of the series(something I RARELY do). But I'm too invested now. This is a pretty creative timeline and I have to see what kind of scenarios Mia gets herself in.
Edit: 10/10/2016: Read my review of this book on my blog here.I have to admit, I haven't really read a lot of books in this genre. That being said, I really liked Calendar Girl.Way back when I first heard of this book, or this series really, I wasn't sure what to think of it. But I am really glad that I read this, because it was so much better than I expected and I was sort of happy to find out that it wasn't just all about sex, there was a point to the story, and I'm guessing to the different p...
Mias father is in deep doo doo. He’s borrowed money from a loan shark and owes back 1 million dollars. Seeking help she gets a job with her aunt who owns an escort service. Each month is a different man. With 200,000 dollars each month she can pay back the loan shark, pay her sisters school tuition, and get her self out of a bind. It can be done in a year right. Along the way Mia meets different mean where she learns a lesson from each. But the number one thing is don’t catch feelings but what h...
LOVED this book... a much better version of 50 shades. l love the character Mia and how she is with someone new each month although I will continue to be team Wes for a happy ending.
The scene descriptions are interesting, but the characters are always too handsome and the stories too lucky to be real. This book is indeed made for its target audience: those that just want to read an erotic novel without thinking; not really my cup of tea.
I'm torn on my rating. I picked this one up based on recommendations from USA Today. We follow Mia and her foray into the escort service run by her aunt, which is as weird as it sounds. Mia needs to pay off some of her father's debts since he owes so much and was roughed up enough to send him into a coma. So Mia spends one 24 days as an escort to three different men in this volume, which takes her from January through March. January's man is a movie director and he falls head over heels for her....
It was fun reading about each month, January through March. Mia Saunders, having to become something detestable, but for her dad, she will do it. Become an escort, to earn the money he owes. January, Her first client, Weston Charles Channing III, a movie script writer and lover of surfing.February,Alex Dubois, artist extraordinaire. Frenchman. Taught Mia how to love someone, without being "in love with them." March,Anthony Fasano, restaurateur, boxer, gay man. Hiding his sexual preference from e...
I'm reading this one book a month with BooksEverAfter, but I've got a 3-in-1 book from the library so I'm reading ahead.January ★★☆☆☆Had to get used to the writing style and the choice of words. It became very Bouquetstyle after that, when she met the guy. I was very underimpressed. But soon, it became interesting, well, a bit addictive to read. I quite like the guy and I'm really curious to how this continues.February ★☆☆☆☆Hmm, liked the first one better. He is just not my type. Let's see what
I like it.. I admit, its not the biggest work ever writing, but I like the premise of the story. I am not to keen on all the erotic stuff (all the time) but.. well yeah I do enjoy the whole setup.Spoiler:I just dont understand Mia, why not stay with Wes instead of insisting on earning the money, like she did have a choice.. Also I am not soooo found of Mia, she's not the best person in the way she speaks to people..
I know it's only the beginning of the Calendar year, but I really wanted more from this one. Let me set up my grading metrics before I dive in: If you've found your way to the synopsis of this book then you should know exactly what you're in for, so I won't sit here and pretend to grade this book by metrics that do not apply. This is one of those New Adult books, meaning modern day romance along a similar line as 50 Shades. Therefore, I'm not approaching this looking for a unique work of literat...
Where do I begin with this book. I first saw an ad on Facebook and then soon after it was everywhere. I read the summary and was instantly intrigued so of course I had to check it out. Starting the book out I felt like maybe this book was not for me or overrated. I continued reading and was hooked. I loved the different clients Mia winds up with and how each story is completely different. It makes you wonder what you would do in her situation. If you are comparing it to 50 Shades of Grey I have
