This is a novel about the adventures of a Venetian enchantress named Sophia and Byzantine gigolo named Casanova sent by the Doge of Venice to assassinate the Ottoman Sultan Mohamed the Second known also as the Conqueror. After an adventurous crossing of the Balkan Peninsula from Venice to Constantinople Sophia is admitted to the Sultan's harem, while Casanova is hired as an assistant of a Venetian painter Gentile Bellini who is a guest of the Sultan to compose the Sultan's portraits. Before long both hero and heroin become involved in various romantic adventures as they experience the different customs and traditions of the medieval Ottoman Empire which at the time includes Asia Minor and the larger portion of the Balkan Peninsula from Peloponnesos to the Carpathian Mountain Range still governed by the infamous Dracula Family whose two young members Vlad and Radu Dracula are kept hostages of the Ottoman Sultan.Despite the harsh conditions of the era and the religious wars that bring havoc and confusion in these lands where three major religions Islam, the Catholic and the Orthodox Church fight most violently to achieve domination, the two heroes take advantage of the every available opportunity to advance their personal interests and carry out their dangerous mission for the sake of Christianity.
