Continuing the story from 'Harp's Tale' and 'The Rise and Fall of Kristalion'. The Kingdom of Vemor is facing threats from north and south. Above, beyond the Great Sand Sea, the advanced civilisation of the Vicinal Confederation covets the Greenstone mineral essential to their survival. Below Vemor, in the cold south, there are rumblings from the Saganians, who seek to right an old wrong and recover lost territory. Two agents cross the desert with differing agendas.
