Clare Chandler is a successful and driven woman with an eviable London lifestyle. When her great-aunt, Verity, dies, Clare returns to the lavish old house in Cornwall called Lemorrick. Taken in by the sea air and nostalgia that the place conjures up, she is tempted to stay, recognising that she is restless and that something in her own life needs to change.

Whilst there, she bumps into her first and only true love, Nick Courtfield, and realises that her passion for him hasn’t diminished. Verity had always hinted at a dark secret of the Courtfield family however, and after being left all her diaries, Clare discovers the secret that Verity has kept all her life and realises that there are amends to make to past beliefs. Can Clare achieve this however whilst trying to find her own destiny?

The Cornish Legacy is a romantic and heart-warming tale of a passionate and empathetic woman with strong family ties. It is addictive from beginning to end as the Barbara Whitnell makes the scenery and characters of Cornwall come to life. It is is for readers who enjoy a romantic novel or Whitnell’s other novels such as The Mill Cottage or Deep Waters.

Barbara Whitnell trained as a teacher and taught in a village school in Cornwall before going to Kenya, where she met her husband, and Uganda. She has travelled extensively, her husband’s job taking the family not only to Africa but also Hong Kong and the West Indies.
