Halifax County tax rate on real estate and tangible personal property is per $100 assessed value.

Utilities: Water for the city is handled by the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District, which is separate and apart from the city government. This organization is administered by 3 board members who are elected every 2 years. The water, which is drawn from the Roanoke River, is filtered by coagulation and filtration in a gallon capacity plant. Also, under supervision Of the Sanitary District is 35 miles Of sewer lines, which does not include storm sewers, and a like mileage Of water lines.
