Meh. I’m not into the rough, control stuff
The romance is erotic and steamy. Our make lead is dominate. It was enjoyable enough that I’m going to check out the next book. FRTC Rated: 3 Stars
Nope. I borrowed this book on KU because the reviews seemed liked the book was going to be an interesting read. Spoiler alert: it’s not. I did not finish because the h did the TSTL thing of going after the very capable H because she couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. For crying out loud. For real (view spoiler)[ they are stranded on an uninhabited planet and she isn’t the best at survival anyway and he’s the one who has been carrying the whole group and keeping them all alive. So glad I decided to start reading the complete series. I started with Izzie and the Icebeast and loved it so much I went to this one next. This story is Jakkar a strong, fierce, warrior, very alpha and Anna, beautiful and instantly drawn to Jakkar. Love this series and highly recommend.
So, the hero is a rapist. I know some are into that but I'm not. Most of the sex is initiated in order to assert dominance. SO it was even the same motivation that rapists have. Telling him to stop didn't work the one time I remember the Anna doing it, when he decided he wanted anal. The heroine only consented to sex, as in actually consented, like, twice, as far as I can remember. He even isolates her at some point. Like a slandered abuser. Quick(ish) ReviewThe Good: protective alien sci-fi rom where they have to find a way to survive after their spacecraft crashes? Yup sign me up. The Bad: occasionally pushing the MINE thing a bit far and the late slave aspect rearing it’s ugly head rubbed me the wrong way at times. There is attempted sexual assault on more than one occasion, so be forewarned. A short little read with a some good steam.The 'slave' thing in the latter part of the book did annoy me a fair bit and I wanted to whack a few heads together. Plus at one point the line between consent blurs in away that had me pausing a little.The (view spoiler)[attempted rape and it's impact on the heroine (hide spoiler)] could have been dealt with far better than it was.Acquired via KU.
