Another spider-versey origin. Say hello to Punishing Spider. A mixture between Punisher & Spider-Man Noir, along with a variation of the black suit.
What if Peter Parker killed his enemies...
AmazingThis was a great one shot that is worth the quick read. Amazing art and fun as hell reimagined tell of Peter Parker.
What if Peter Parker was a Spider-man that killed, later to quit the gig? This series fell short. If PP wasn't SPM, shouldn't we have seen more repercussions? Like a SPM that hit it and quit it, there'd have to be... more??
Very disappointing comic that wasted a semi-cool premise. There's nothing noteworthy or special about this story and Spider-Man killing his enemies here absolutely unwarranted. It could've made more sense if it was Uncle Ben and Aunt May that had been murdered and that drove Peter over the edge mentally and morally, but everything is still presented as a typical Spider-Man story with the usual tropes. There's not even anyone from Punisher's rogues gallery presented here, its almost all Spider-Man...
Nice, quick read. Quite enjoyable
Just okay. Out of all the new What Ifs that got announced by Marvel, this one had me the most excited! The idea of Peter Parker becoming The Punisher is a very cool concept indeed, and this book does enough to be satisfying. The story is a cool take, while still mirroring some famous events in the comics. The artwork is pretty cool as well! Overall this an okay read, I did like it slightly more then the Flash Thompson book.
A cool story with a twist for how the past of Spider-man and the Punisher intersects. Also the design of the black suit based on the Punisher looks great I like it
It was iiiiight...
Normally I am not a huge fan of the What IF series. But this one had an interesting premise. Peter Parker channels his inner Frank Castle and becomes the Spider-Punisher (terrible name) and actually fights crime. It was an ok story. Not terrible but nothing great either. The art is of the same caliber-nothing great but nothing horrid. The ending was not what I expected either with Castle showing up in the picture, but I suppose it works. Oh well it was worth a read and by no means awful, just no...
(2 of 5 for managing to create Spider-Punisher in an almost unchanged millionth repeat of Spider-man backstory boring as f*ck)
Eh, it was alright. Great concept, but it didnt have enough action. The plot didn't deviate enough from the basic Spiderman plotlines, as opposed to Thor's What If which drastically changed to aesthetic and style of the story, whereas this comic just gave Peter a black suit with a skull. The ending was great, but the climax wasn't interesting and we didn't get any classic Punisher moments. I wanted crazy fights with guns and webs, we didn't really get that. If you had called it "Edgy Spiderman"
I like the one shots of Spider-Man compared to the actual story. I enjoyed this because I like when Spider-Man is characterized as a real person and not this perfect, whiny goody two shoes. I liked his initial selfishness and him not caring about his public image. This is the kind of series I would want to read for sure. Also artwork is amazing and helps set the tone of the story.
The ending was absolutely horrible to this issue, but aside from the last couple of pages this wasn’t too bad. Really disappointed with that ending tho.
