Kindle Unlimited.3 starsThis was a cute premise. I love the idea of fictional characters coming to life. I love the mystery of the bookstore, and the tension of Mina losing her eyesight. The sexual chemistry between the 4 characters is a little weird for me though.
"Join a brooding antihero, a master criminal, a cheeky raven, and a heroine with a big heart (and an even bigger book collection) in this brand new steamy reverse harem paranormal mystery series by USA Today bestselling author Steffanie Holmes."I unfortunately missed that sentence when I read the description. This book was not funny, it was not witty, and it was not original. The book made high school level literary references and then wildly congratulated itself. I didn't understand why anyone
5/10/20DNF at 34%This has so many positive reviews, I thought for sure I would enjoy it. But honestly I’m a third of the way through and pretty bored. The characters feel too flat for me.
Literary lovers unite! And I do mean that because James Moriarty, Heathcliff, and Poe's Raven are the main stars here.As I was reading this, I kept expecting to be disappointed, annoyed, and exasperated. It was a pleasant surprise when I found myself enjoying this immensely. Now, this is a Reverse Harem type of deal, a guilty pleasure of mine. But, it wasn't very explicit at all. I'm expecting a slow burn type of deal here, and I'm all for it. I loved Mina. She was a great girl to like. There ar...
Best Twist EverHolmes is one amazing writer!! I fell in love from page with our down on her luck MC that is hoping to score a job at Nevermore bookstore. After one wonky interview she scored the job which will change her life forever as the story unfolds. I was totally riveted as it all played and I loved the idea for the male characters. With so much fun stuff in this one I cannot wait for book two!! A total must read!! I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Pleasant read but not enough oompf to really excite me to continue reading.
3.8 stars Imagine your fav bookboyfriend coming to life? Thats what happens in this book. This is a reverse harem story where the heroine Mina recently lost her dream job and now she is back in her town where she gets a job in a cursed book store and there she meets heathcliff, a raven, and Morrie. But they are not just normal people, the raven is Poe’s raven who can shift into a human, Heathcliff from wuthering heights and James Moriarty. They all found themselves out of the book into the real
Downloaded this on impulse and WOW was it a good idea! There's great banter between the characters, and the author manages to bring her men - Moriarty, Heathcliff, and the raven from 'Nevermore' - to life without me wanting to cringe. Love this series! It was funny and engaging.[Blog] - [Bookstagram]
Rating: 4 starsA story set in heaven a gigantic secondhand bookstore with infamous Heathcliff, criminal mastermind Moriarty and a sweet gorgeous mess named Quoth?Yes please.Mina is going blind and has her fashion dream taken away from her. Forced to go back to her boring hometown, she lands a job in the only place she ever felt at home: the Nevermore Bookshop. But the Nevermore Bookshop isn't just the second biggest secondhand bookstore in the country, it's a magical and mysterious place where fa...
DNF. This seems to be becoming a theme for me lately. I found Mina obnoxious and whiny, the guys were blah--although the author told us all about their personalities and how we should feel about them, we are not really shown--and the "murder mystery" was eye rolling at best.
3.5/5After being diagnosed with a deteriorating eye condition and losing her dream job, Mina runs back to her quaint English village to reevaluate her life. When she finds out her childhood haven, Nevermore Bookshop, is hiring she applies for the job. However, things are weird at Nevermore, it's being run by Heathcliff, James Moriarty and Poe's Raven. Mina's life becomes very complicated by the three hot men in her life she's lusting over. When her ex-best friend is murdered in the bookshop and

I really liked this. It's the second series I've read by this author and it definitely has similar vibes. There's a slight cheesiness (as was in her other series) which I occasionally find a bit off putting, but she's good at characterisation, which I can forgive a lot for.The premise of this book is really fun. I love the idea of book characters coming to life. Heathcliff, Moriarty and Quoth (shape-shifting Raven from Poe's poem) were intriguing characters and I really enjoyed their interaction...
DNF @ 20%I loved the concept of A DEAD AND STORMY NIGHT but the execution is just not there. The writing is a bit choppy and while the timeline is progressing quickly, nothing is actually happening. Additionally I wasn't really feeling any of the characters. Mina, our heroine, is annoying and comes across as a bit snobby and judgmental and Heathcliffe is a complete asshole and I find nothing appealing about him; I also have no idea how he ever has any customers. Morrie was alright, he's obviousl...
I'm part of the facebook group from Steffanie Holmes. I get her newsletter. I obsess over all the pretty covers and the awesome blurbs. And yet I had never actually read anything BY her. Somehow her books got a little lost on the wishlist, surfacing once in a while, but then pushed aside again. Shame on me. But, the moment this book landed on my iPad I couldn't wait any longer and had to get started. Because everything about this book screamed my name. Loudly. And the book did not disappoint. Eve...
Ooh, this was a lot of funThis was such a novel premise (pardon the pun) that even moments where I wasn’t enjoying the story so much - yes, I’m looking at you Mina’s mum - still didn’t put me off this story. Having the character struggling to deal with certain issues beyond her control was a nice touch as having a MC who skates through a story easily, or problem free, is boring. However add in Moriarty, Heathcliff and Poe, and you’ve got yourself an interesting hook. The murder of the ex-BFF was
arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Wilhelmina is the assistance at nevermore bookstore after finding she is going blind and not being able to design anymore she meets her boss hearthcliff ,the raven quoth, and morri the flatmate . There's a murder to solve and the question of the bookstore and it's characters.Awesome
Fun idea but meh. I decided to pick off where I left it and decided that while it isn't a dreamboat of a book it is still a cozy read and decidedly a fun mystery novel.
Cozy mystery meets fantasy story. A fashion designer is losing her eyesight so goes home to rural England and gets a job at used Bookstore. Characters from famous books have been brought to life and are running store. A murder happens and Mina is prime suspect, so they all have to figure out who did it.It was a predictable mystery, but the idea of a slowly developing disability is interesting. And that characters are coming out of books is unique. So below average plot, but above average premise...
Not bad but nothing to write home about either. This book started off great! So funny and dramatic and with characters that promised you a real ride. I am not sure why, but as the story progressed, I couldn't connect with the characters any more. While I really liked Mina, Heathcliff and Quoth I struggled with Moriarty (I especially disliked his ridiculous nickname). He was annoying me much of the time and I never felt like I could connect with him. I was rooting for these characters to get toget...
