Didn't finish @15%The first book was good, I liked how things were moving along. This book drops a huge bombshell fairly early on which practically negates much of what we believe in book one. That's annoying. It's written in first person, so basically, that person has been lying to itself. Huh? Makes no sense. Now all the inconsistencies I read I wonder was that on purpose or not? If it's intentional then I just suspect there will be another turn around for the next book. If not, than its just a r...
Well Claudia aka McKenzie has to finally reveal the secret she's been keeping from the guys. Of course out of the three Eli is the most hurt cause he really wanted McKenzie back cause of the love they had. Now its really getting sticky because she has to try to keep them uninvolved in the mess of her life. Plus being in love with all them doesn't help the matter.I love this series and can't wait for book 3.I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.
I definitely liked this one way more than the first one! The first one left me super confused, maybe I just hadn’t picked up on the little clues, but now it makes way more sense lol. It’s actually a great twist. Noah and Gabriel are great in this one, i love how their relationships grew. I felt for Eli and the betrayal he felt from before. Claudia has been through a lot but i still think there’s a lot to come. The ending left me confused? Not sure what was happening after Claudia took the bullet...
My Secret Heart: a dark high-school romance (Stonehurst Prep Book 2) Kindle Edition by Steffanie Holmes I borrowed this book via Kindle Unlimited and I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.First, there will be spoilers. Second, trigger warnings include rough sex, gangland fights and hot, sexy Preppy boys.Spoilers after break:1234Claudia has admitted to Noah, Eli and Gabriel that she is not MacKensie Malloy. She is the daughter of a member of the local mob's Triumvirate. She is a doppleg...
Mackenzie decided to share her secret with her boys (Gabriel, Eli and Noah), but what is the cost? And has she put them in more danger. Who could be the person who seems to be after her? She told the boys that she is really Claudia August, so it has naturally shaken them. Maybe Eli the most, can he forgive her for taking Mackenzie's place? I loved finding out more about the backstories of the characters, and their potentially darker more hidden selves, I couldn't help but keep turning the pages
Book 2 kicks off with Mackenzie (FMC Claudia) dropping a massive bombshell on the guys - Noah, Gabriel & Eli. The repercussions of which are felt throughout the book. The plot twists and turns just keep you gripped and you cant help but get sucked into it. Family ties bind deeply and some secrets get uncovered in jaw droppingly good ways. Mackenzie/Claudia's claws (pun intended) come out more in this book as she starts to show more of her blood thirsty side. Which to me made her a more interesti...
A really good sequelThis book has a good balance of giving answers to questions posed in the first book but also giving us a bunch more questions to keep you reading! It sounds obvious but I’ve read some books that try and keep you hanging on so long you lose all interest. The characters are continuing to develop although I felt like I would have liked to learn a bit more about Gabe in this book. However, the occasional slipping in to past tense when the majority of the book is written is presen...
Actually 3.5 ⭐I don't know maaannnn...Again it's not bad but also not good! The book had its moments but the whole storyline with Eli not trusting her and being caught up with mac... it kinda dragged onI did enjoy the part with Gabe and Noah on the couch... but all in all, not a book I will remember in a month.I will read the next installment just to see if Anthony is a backstabbing bitch or not. I just don't trust himMy Stolen Life, ⭐⭐⭐.5Author followed !
More pieces are starting to come together. My Secret Heart is book #2 in the Stonehurst Prep series by Steffanie Holmes and contines where My Stolen Life, book #1, left off. More mystery, intrigue and answers are revealed as we learn the true identity of Mackenzie Malloy aka Claudia 'Claws' August. We see Claudia revealing herself to her boys and how her relationship with boys is getting closer, more intimate and stronger, with the exception of Eli. Noah is realizes that what he thought about tho...
So we got that bombshell at the end of book one about Mackenzie. Clearly this is definitely a dream come true for Noah. He was messed up over being into her the revelation that she isn’t really Mackenzie took the weight off. Of course, now Eli is all betrayed even more than before. He’s also into her and feeling torn about. Always gotta have an odd man out. Story 3/5, Heat 2/5, Darkness 2/5, Angst 2.75/5Fast burn, Noah and Claudia get right back into it but then it’s pretty mellow for most of th...
Steffanie Holmes never fails to amaze me with the characters she invents. Not only are they what most girls dream of but it's more than that. Her characters obviously take characteristics of herself when it comes to intelligence. Oh sure we have a storyline with lots of sitting on the edge of your seat adventure, fun and sizzling romance, and a bit of education from subjects Steffanie is well versed in.Our heroine's secret is out but our heroes have some secrets of their own. The story moves alo...
Usual RH Novel Tropes with Mafia Overtones. Predictable Let me just start by saying ...The very things I enjoyed about “My Stolen Life”are the very things that annoyed me in this second instalment about MalloryMalloy/Claudia August.I have never disliked a female lead more. Claudia is a maniacal, egotistical, blood crazy, BOY crazy B,.This story has ventured into typical reverse harem fodder.Troubled girl trying to survive mob rivalry that took the lives of her mother and father, team up with her...
“Daddy showed me how to sneak a Roman bust into the country and how to stand on a man’s windpipe until he stops breathing. But he never taught me how to mend a broken heart.”My Secret Heart is like a well orchestrated game of chess. If you stop paying attention for the slightest moment you’ll be caught off guard. I’m loving Ms Holmes writing style and the deviousness of her mind. This series has been a fantastic introduction to her work and I’ve been absolutely captivated by this book. It is tot...
Spoiler & trigger warning. I’m obsessed with this series. There were so many questions answered from book 1 but then by the end of book two we had just as many new ones. Claudia finally got her revenge and it was beautiful. I think I even fell in love with Noah and Gabriel myself! The downside is that I cannot stand Eli anymore, this book completely ruined him for me, which sucks as he’s one of the main love interests. I would be fine if it were only Noah and Gabe. As for the trigger warning, I
McKenzie has dropped her bomb on the boys. She is not who they think she is after all. She is the daughter of a mob boss and her name is Claudia August. But the spitting image of McKenzie. Eli is destroyed as he loved McKenzie and cannot bring himself to even look at Claudia. She has lost him forever. Noah takes it in his stride as does Gabriel. What dealings does Antony have behind the scenes that Claudia doesn't know about? He saved her when she was buried alive by the man who raped her. There...
Hearts full of secretsBook 2 was bursting with secrets!! It picks off right where book one left off dropping the major bomb that will change the entire boom series from there on out. We get many of Macs secrets that we pretty much know her entire being. We learn Noah past and his fathers dealings with Macs dad. Also Eli past with his dad and his dealings with her dad as well. Their secrets enough to break or hold them together. Also Gabriel has some dark secrets and loathing that comes out that
Good seriesThis review is for the series. I enjoyed this RH/organized crime/friends-to-enemies-to-lovers series. What really made it for me is the heroine is the kind I'd want to be friends with. She is strong, kinda crazy and hilarious. Her guys each bring something to the table. It is filled with crazy twists, suspense and heat. The only downfall to this series is there are a number of mild plot holes within the books and from book to book. I hope this author gets some good beta readers and/or
Mackenzie/Claudia. Claudia has admitted who she really is to her three guys and Eli can’t accept it. He leaves and doesn’t talk to her for days. But as more and more info regarding no only her father’s crime organization but the Malloy family, it comes to light that her guy’s families are not innocent and have been in bed with both the August crime family and the illegal dealings the Malloy family was involved in. And Eli finds out that his dad is even more involved in the crimes than he thought...
She has confessed her secret to the three princes, but they have their own. Gabriel tells Claudia about his friend and his secret confession becomes public. Noah will discover the truth about his brother's death. Eli will be confronted with overwhelming evidence of his father's connections to dangerous and corrupt organizations.Compelling, well written, and convincing characters that will discover just how intertwined their lives have been. Suspense, mystery, and violence with unexpected and stu...
I loved the second book of the series. This one has a little bit of everything. I must admit some of it was pretty heavy at times. You will know what I mean when you read it. (There is a bit of extreme violence that might not be for everyone. One of the methods for getting rid of a body is a bit nauseating.) All-in-all though it is a very well-written book and I can't wait to see what happens in the next one, can you say big-time cliffhanger??I was given an advanced copy of this book by the auth...
