Practice Notes Road Traffic 3rd Edition (Practice Notes)

Practice Notes Road Traffic 3rd Edition (Practice Notes)

Stephen Hardy
0/5 ( ratings)
This new edition of Practice Notes Road Traffic provides an inexpensive accessible guide through the legal minefield created by the long standing 1988 and 1991 Road Traffic Acts. This work highlights the recent debates on amending speed limits and the alarming increase of driving without insurance and driving under the influence of drugs. Whilst tackling these new issues, the authors, who are fully experienced in this area, provide an update on recent case law and statutory developments. For instance, following the ruling by the Court of Appeal in R v Simmonds, the law on careless driving has become overly complicated. However, this book clarifies the issues and dispels any confusion regarding the case. The new statutory measures brought in by the Driver Improvement Scheme will be considered. In addition, given the changes to criminal justice sentencing and procedures effected by the Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act 1996, Crime Sentences Act 1997, Crime & Disorder Act 1998, and the law reform 'Modernising Justice' proposals which are currently before Parliament, the road traffic law practitioner has little time to stand still. To provide some assistance to practitioners, sentencers and others this text guides them through the latest changes to the law in this growing area of litigation. Lastly, for completeness, with the forthcoming impact of the Human Rights Act 1998, this text addresses its implications for road traffic law
