I guess I was expecting more. This is meant for beginners. If you have never used a blog, this might helpful. Otherwise it will feel too simplistic to you.
Great read!I am so happy I purchased this book. I now feel prepared to start and manage a blog on my own.
At only 49 pages, this is a helpful booklet for beginners using WordPress. Just make sure you know what you want to blog about, and you’re on your way.
InspiringI have read this as an absolute novice on the subject and am inspired to give it a try. Firstly I will read Steve’s book about ideas for blogging subjects.
I downloaded this way before I started my own blog, I wanted to create something on my own without someone's tips and guidance. But anyway I don't think the little book educated me at all, I had the knowledge already there, the only thing I got from it was to pay for a host, instead of using free services which can delete your account without warning. All this book screamed at me was WORDPRESS, which I already use so I was sick of seeing it. If I went into this book before starting my blog, then...
I'm just going to rehash my status updates here:I already have a blog but I'm open to learning new things. I was hoping to take something away from reading this book, but sadly did not."This book is for entertainment purposes only." - What does that even mean?? Is that an out?The book starts off by saying WordPress is the "best blogging platform". And goes on to say that you don't want to choose a "free blog" (like Blogger) because "your blog won't be professional"... "A free blog uses the hosti...
Says nothing that has not been said thousands of times other places on the web already.
This should actually be a blog post. All the information in the book is free online. The book is cheap but it still isn’t worth it. There is 20 minutes of content to read in this ‘book’.
I don't know what possessed me to download a bunch of blogging books....this book basically said the same things my seo person is always harping about to me. After reading this I wasn't exactly sure how this differs from an internet site. I've written about all the atticles I care to write for my site and for all the adjunct sites seo person insists that I link from or to. I don't have the patience to let others write for me (it takes as long or longer to review and correct other people's articl...
Great infoGreat general knowledge. Good for a beginner dabbling for information. Not to in depth, but does exactly what the title says.
I got this book because as an owner of a blog, I am always looking to improve it. I figured that 'How to Start a Successful Blog' would help me find new things I could do to improve my blog, but a better title for this book would be 'How to Build a Wordpress Blog'.The book is basically step-by-step instructions on how to build a blog; information on buying domain names and hosting, installing Wordpress on the CPanel. Most of which is usually straight forward to anyone trying it.This book also on...
Solid info for your first attempt at bloggingSteve always has great instructional books. He is one of those authors that you can depend on for quality every time. This book shows you step by step in pain language how to set up your first blog, just like the title reads. He makes it simple with no fluff or hype. There are links to resources and Steve lets you know if one of those links are affiliated (there might be one or two). His honesty is refreshing. There's bonus information on what to writ...
Overview of how Wordpress works. I found this information to be an overview of how to use Wordpress. There were some gems of knowledge regarding plugins. And the “resources” section had some usable information. But the gist of this ebook was how to setup a website using Wordpress.
“How to Start a Successful Blog in One Hour” by Steve Scott provides you almost all the information on how to start a blog (with WordPress.com) and monetize it in a few easy steps. It is brief, easy to read and has the exact information you need for the purpose.WordPress.com is not the easiest blogging platform. Obviously, Blogger is easier and it is totally free. For some reason, I started my blog with WordPress and taught the same to my students. Having heard this, a friend of mine told me tha...
I appreciated reading this book, but a more accurate title might be "How to Set Up a Simple Blog in One Hour + Some Tips for Success."The author runs the reader through a basic introduction to domains, hosting, wordpress, and traffic, leading through a straighforward means to set up a blog that will fit your needs. A few tips for traffic engagement, etc, enhance the otherwise spartan content of this book. If you're coming from a background of minimal experience in this area, and want to understa...
I was really quite pleasantly surprised at how much step-by-step detail was provided by the author of this book. It was clear to even a relatively non-technical person like me and really took you through the entire process up to and including how you should use your blog.I will have this book right by my side next year when I start my new blog!
Good InformationThis is the first book I have ever read on blogging. I love the simplicity the author used in describing how to accomplish various tasks. The more technical instructions on how to set up certain things could have been explained in more detail. However, overall great information. I would certainly recommended this book to anyone starting a blog.
This book deals with blogs on Wordpress. If that's the platform you plan to use you might find the information useful. If not, this probably isn't the book you're looking for. That said, the author covers "the process" of setting up a successful wordpress blog from picking your niche to setting up your domain name and adding features to your blog.
Great InformationI was very pleased with this book. The information is clear and easy to follow. However, at least for me, it's a level or two above where I am. If you are like me and just beginning, discovering what you'd like to do this may be advanced. I'm not quite ready to spend money or register domain names just yet.I believe this will be an excellent resource when I reach that point though!
I really liked this one. Steve broke it down into each step. I already had a blog set up, but I found the plugin recommendations very helpful, although I couldn't find the Digg Digg plugin, there were others. All in all, very simple and easy to read and implement. I think this is the year I start blogging. Keep up the great work, Steve, and thanks.
